The battery will get very hot and the boiling electrolyte will provide a very strong smell. Trust me, you'll be able to tell if it is over charging. Just take it for a few short rides to try it out.

The specs for the R/R are 13.5-16V @ 5000 RPM. Your 15V is going to be fine.

I thought it was a '98 but didn't pay that much attention. The 2000-01 has a different part number for the harness. Most likely due to O2 sensors and additional pinouts on the ECU for them IMO. It may work but I wasn't willing to take the chance or spend any more time in research myself so I bought a '98-'99 for the project I'm working on.

Temp hooking the monitor wire straight to the battery fixed it, would it be a bad idea to use this as a permanent fix?

Stator turned out to be bad...27v on one, 45v on another, and about 80v on the last one. Could this be what is causing the problems?

Ordering a Rick's stator Monday :) unless RM stator is better?

Stator replaced but he now discovered the cover had been well messed up by the last owner. Found weld fixup spots, and I think caulking too. Told me when he replaced the stator it was hitting off of the flywheel rotor? Ordering a new OEM cover/gasket tonight/tomorrow.
