 OK, here is my Christmas wish (for 3 years now) that will make some :tongue1: drool & others say "WTF" :jaw: !

I'm building this bike now, but would love to have Honda produce it
I'd buy it yesterday -so here it goes ---

Honda can't up the displacement with out competing with it own ST1300
& it's underpowerd for a sport tourer as it is (admit it, you'd like more umph!)
    So -
Drop the 800 already, & lets have a little sportier or a "LOT" sportier 1000 with gear driven cam's, & get rid of that VTEC, enough already, I want all 4 of those valves from the bottom on up, for the power now.
Honda has the Tech to get good fuel milage with all 4 valves talking (except Daytona 200 CBR600RR's  dig)
Honda has been talking of this for a while, & even heard that the 1000RR has gone as far as it can go & the V4 was the replacement.

Now the word in the grapevine is that is now nixed & it will be a "V5" instead ala based on last years GP bike that Nicky won on & already have some built.

If it goes the V4 route or the V5 route, I hope it has the list of goodies I listed above.
If so, I'll be 1st in line to buy one !
If you love the V4 sound, OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, you'll love the sound of a V5 !

Now let the Comments begin :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah:

I think you'll have to speak for yourself on the power issue - i'm totally satisfied by the power output on my '00. As far as this motor swap, that's a lot of work and modifying for an extra 15 hp, but whatever floats yer boat.

    expected that,
but my engine has a HRC balanced crank, HRC heads polished & ported, bigger valves & springs, major carb work, & many more extras.
the motor swap wasn't that bad & it's hot wired now to get it running & ck things out mechanically & lined up good B-4 I finish the wiring(the fun part).
it Dyno'd @ 131.7hp but was cutting out from 6000RPM's on up, so it's in my friends shop that is an expert on Honda electronics (used to work for Honda @ HRC)& where I got most of my HRC parts from.
When running right, expecting 140 plus HP shooting for 150  (more than 15hp improvement):becky: .

I p/u the blown motor(oil drain plug wasn't put on tight & fell off) rolling Chassis 800 with 6200 miles on it @ a aution for $1500.00 & already had the the '86 V4 1000 motor from a wrecked race bike, RC51 front end & penske rear shock. When done, will have about $5000.00 in it & you just can't beat that for a VFR that will smoke all others VFR's & ride confortable as well
i'll show it to Freddie Spencer when he's up @ MMP Raceway this Summer & let him ride it if he wants to, to get his impression on it.
I'm betting it will be all smiles !!! & maybe then he can yell @ Honda to produce it - Yea Baby !

My goal is the bike that Honda has be mumbling about for 3 years now, that I'll actually have.

 & yes it will float my boat to Hovercraft level

Having ridden my buddies CBR1000RR, I can say that it is a mondo ride - all the possible power and handling you could want. So for a awhile I considered buying one and grafting a 5th gen upper cowl on to it and raising the bars and all the mods to make it a package. It would be a CBR1000SS. RR power/handling and viffer like wind protection and ergos.

Good luck on your bike build - sounds like fun!

good point, and that after its initial splash didn't sell too well, at least here in the states

Having owned a 1200 and a 1300, the VFR does what it does, as is, very well.

As to power, there are always ways to tweak out a little extra. But really, how often do how many of us, have the throttle pinned now? Not too often I would guess.

Well, this swap makes alot more sense to me now that I know your '05 engine was fried - good luck with it.

I have ridden a Blackbird too, even considered buying one. But what it came down too, being a corner carving junkie, is that with the longer wheel base it was less capable in the twists than the viffer. You especially notice it while riding the 'bird and the viffer back to back.

The CBR1000RR is lighter and more capable in the twists than the 'bird. The 'birds longer stretch out ergos didnt agree with me either.

    To each his own.....

Well FWIW here's my take, First step get a RC 51 add in a SSSA off a 4th gen add a faring off the CBR1000rr then add the rear sub frame off a 6th gen. In addition too working out the diff some how with the clip-ons. But that's a nit picky detail. all is good now.

Although inserting the V4 1000 sounds interesting, if money wasn't a problem would like to put a stroker kitted Gen 5 engine into the Gen6 frame with RC51 front and Ohlins rear as my fun way to upgrade the current VFR still be as practical.

Pretty close to the same thing, but you forgot I purchased the bike with a fried motor & I already had a '86 HRC component built 1000 V4, so my way would still be cheaper than even the stroker kit installed out side of your self.

I even had considerd that to my running VFR800 until I came into the deal with the rolling Chassis (maybe a turbo ?:caked: ).

I applied for my new plate saying 08VFR51

Taz, I like what you are doing and agree 100% with you. What I think some people forget is that most of us really want more mid-range TORQUE. Personally I don't pay that much attention to the horsepower at 12,000 rpm. What I do enjoy is the fat torque curve at 4,000 to 8,000 rpm, just like my former Suzuki Katana 1100 had, which for several years was the roll-on king until the later V-Max came along.
And when I speak of torque...I love V4 torque much more than inline torque, especially with all 4 valves dancing around from gear driven cams, etc., and of course no VTEC allowed at this party. Think TORQUE! . . . . . . . :bolt:

Money no object? Hoo, add to above the Ohlins forks with Brembo brakes and master cylinders. Dont forget a Custom carbon fibre rear tail body with deleting the steel subframe, and also a carbon fibre swingarm, CF wheels with a Ducati rear wheel single nut bolt attachment. The above engine would go about 125hp. - Throw in everything else I have already done. Yeah, that would be about the perfect VFR900.
