I didn't know the bike would still run like that. Is this common?

    I have a 1988 VFR Red.

How do I get a replacment key?

Do I need to buy a new ignition switch?

An help will greatly be appreciated.

I guess you do not have a spare key........if you do the gas cap has a key code.

No one has any input other than opening the gas cap with a key that I don't have?

Thanks. I never lost keys before (car or motorcycle) and had no idea what to do.

Picking the lock is not a big deal for a locksmith and with the code the locksmith can cut a key with Curtis key cutter in a minute or two. If you were close enough I would pick the lock for you. Lock picking is one of those goofy things I like to do.

    Ha Ha.. That's pretty funny.

Thanks for all your help guys. My Honda dealer was closed today so I am calling a locksmith now provided that the key code is under the gas cap. Let's hope so or I'm out $85.00

OK, Just like Toe Cutter said. Locksmith picked my gascap lock and found my code and made me a set of keys in minutes. Thanks to Toe Cutter and all for your help. BTW my key was worn down at the point so that is why it came out of the ignition so easily.

These new keys stay locked into the ignition when I turn the motorcycle on so hopefully no more flying keys.
