Ah... well... Yeah, 250 miles is a good five hours with a smoke/gas stop in the middle.

Exactly Reg. I am not opposed to doing some longer rides down the line, it just doesn't fit my schedule/life right now. A closer event that I could attend and get home from (or at least Sac.) in a day is a winner for me.

I wish I lived there sometimes. The Wine County and Walmart Tour is sadly a one day gig. Sob!!

I have done the gold country tour a couple times. there is just one bit I keep missing. that one section of highway they call the little dragon. somehow I have missed it the last 2 or 3 times I have been anywhere near gold country. I think it's cause anytime I get near Sacramento I hear John's refrigerator full of beer calling me and I can't concentrate on riding.

The 'Little Dragon' is just one segment of Hwy 49 that's interesting. Trouble with 49 is everybody knows about it. While there are plenty of superb roads up here, the best of them are the ones with little or no traffic, and even fewer LEO's.

On that particular topic, we hold this event on this particular weekend specifically because it's the same weekend as the Calaveras Frog Jump thing. Most of the area LEO's are down there chasing inebriated boyz on Harleys, so they're not available to pay attention to us.

I rarely have any trouble with lost enforcement cause I don't ride that fast. I just let the bike rev a lot and people think I'm going fast.

We have Monticello, Sage Canyon and Pope Valley roads here in the valley. We can do some nice circles around Lake Berryessa and out to MIddletown.

As of this afternoon there are only two rooms remaining. If you're planning on making it, and you want a room, you'd best get it now!

Is this really a problem? Lots of harleydoods like to share and break bread together so to speak.

It'll only be a problem if you were expecting something that doesn't present itself. I know for a fact that many of the rooms are already 'double occupancy', and I also know there are some people making their reservations up the road at the Pioneer Lodge.

Cool. I hope those harleydoods don't think that nine holes at Pebble Beach is some night time activity.

Okay Fred. It's an easy ride for you, assuming 88 is clear by then (almost guaranteed; but mother nature may have a say). What we've done at past events is to have a rider's meeting Saturday morning at 9:30-ish with feet-up planned for 10-ish. I will have route instructions (ala 'six flags' style) for each bike I know about. Even though the ride route is only about 150 miles, we'll be out until at least 4pm figuring in the lunch and two lie breaks.

Bring a sleeping bag and plan on staying for the feast on Saturday night. I'll be bringing the Weber and plenty of food. It looks like we'll have a good crowd, perhaps as many as 35-40. I know all the rooms are booked at this point, with overflow going up the road to the Pioneer Lodge. Also know a dozen or so (for sure) using the campsites.

Oh... and anyone who is not there WILL be the topic of much verbal abuse during the weekend.
