So I have wanted a bike for many years now, but couldn't make the financial commitment for a new bike. A lady we just hired and I were talking about numerous things and bikes came up, she mentioned her husband had a bike he rode way back in college that he was thinking about selling. We started talking more and she said she would definitely mention selling it to me for a deal. Later I ended up talking to him through text and he said since I was a college student and knew his wife he would sell me the bike for $600 If I was interested (his wife mentioned he was going to put it on Craigslist for $1000-1500. Went to his house the next day and said yes, so he even drove it over on a trailer to my house.

now to the more exciting portion of this post!

So the bike is a 1986 VFR700 V4 Interceptor, the gentlemen bought the bike in 1994 and used it for college and to cruise around. Later on in early 2000's he said he sold it to a friend who changed the chain, did some engine work, and bought new tires. His friend already had bikes and didn't really use the bike so asked if he wanted the bike back, and he decided why not. The bike has 40,320 miles on it, has a 750 right fairing as the original was damaged from a drop.

And finally here are some pictures! :)

Nice find. GREAT DEAL. Where are you going from here? You got it cheap enough you could cherry it oot, enjoy it,ride the wheels off of it, and not loose a dime.

There has been a sick rumor going around that I am a sucker for working on gen 2's. I think Tink started it.

Perfect, the front forks have a slight leak. Come by and we can fix it over a 12 pack! :)

I want to ride it so bad, to at least practice. But I am scared of practicing on such a big bike! So I just start it up everyday and listen to it for a few minutes =)

It is not a big bike..... but don't be fooled it will run like a scalded cat, raped ape, like it's head was on fire and it's ass was catchin...... you get the idea. Yeah nice find the tank looks like it has a big blob of either bondo or wax on it? either way nice grab...

and yeah TOECUTTER absolutely loves to work on gen 2's but you gotta bring it to him.. that way he can drink all the beer you brought and not have to drive home...

yeah the blob actually looks like it was repainted, and wasn't sanded properly so gases formed and caused a bubble. Is not bondo though :)

And I am glad I have found someone that lives so close already to work on it! :p

So I just took the bike out after getting my permit, it taken off non op, and insuring myself. It was mty second time ever riding and first was 2 days ago on a 250 yamaha. I was so nervous cause of the engine size and my first bike and all. I just have to say, I have been missing out. It was such an exciting feeling, I am just practicing on these deserted roads near my house, but still...such an amazing bike for 600$+120$ to take off non op +300$ for a year insurance...-_-

    Great find!

Be careful. Going down at 20mph hurts and you can do that on a bicycle. Not trying to scare you... but I am trying to scare you!

I only have my permit, xD

But I don't mind coming down even tomorrow, I was going to goto sac and look at some gear. I need a jacket and gloves, and perhaps a helmet. My uncle gave me a helmet but I would feel better with a new one. Plans tomorrow?
