Time zone and observation of daylight saving time? Please make it more simple for us. What accuracy do you require - searching for the God particle or just trying to make it home for dinner?

Wow, way to sweet talk people into offering help.

"generally referred to" is a little strong, sometimes would work a little better
also commonly called guages, instruments, dash, meters

presumably there was a time in your life that you too had never heard of the phrase "clocks" before, you didn't pop out of the womb using the word. Try to remember that.

perhaps when seeking technical assistance, it would be wise to not use slang
so as to avoid confusion, as slang can differ from location to location as well as be potentially completedly different alltogether
it also makes you look less competent
and in this case your response makes you look like a giant @ss

25022012431_1.jpg Wow, what a thread, I must say I thoroughly enjoy the reactions from you men. Very entertaining, very exciting and very very funny. If I could make a TV show..........
I'm not into all those quote things so I'll just answer generally and not directly to any posters and please Americans and Canadians, please don't take offence....
The post is entitled "How do I run my RC36 type 2 without the clocks plugged in ?" - So that means a 1994 to 1997 VFR750F - that is a RC36 type 2, the other RC36 is a 1990 to 1993 model so it was clearly stated which bike I am working on. - This is VFR World and everyone should know that by now.
Clocks is world wide and universal and you are just being ignorant if you cannot think of what I would be talking about - it's obvious, I didn't need list all the terms for an instrument cluster as if I was selling something on ebay, it's pretty self explanatory so no need to still be harping on about the clocks now. Some of you are trying to wind me up and I'm cool with that, I giveth, I taketh.
The 1990 to 1993 model probably runs without the clocks plugged in but my type 2 did not. I have the manual, but I posted the question for someone who knows his shit to go "Hey, OK , here we go, you gotta take the black wire and link it to the blue wire and that will complete the loop and the bike will run. I did it on my project bike that came with smashed clocks"
I thought that this is the kind of stuff I was going to get on this forum but alas, I was too naive. It seems to me the more posts you have and the more thanks you have you up the hierarchical ladder and make more friends and influence people. I just came here for some info. I'll give thanks to you all so I've got some of those too. Good to see I've managed to wind some of you up - back.
Now, open a light beer, put on some Motorhead or Lamb Of God and rock out, just like the movies.
    Cheers

So in essence u just came here to test the forum cause u already knew what wires to shunt. And in a since just came here to ruffle feathers. Sounds to me like a person who needs their perverbial clock cleaned. We statesiders have a very specific term for people like this and that is Obama syndrome.

Again, misunderstood by some American who thinks he's a Viking.
I did not wish to test the forum or to ruffle feathers you douche bag - I don't fucking-well know which wires to "shunt" you idiot.
This, "Hey, OK , here we go, you gotta take the black wire and link it to the blue wire and that will complete the loop and the bike will run. I did it on my project bike that came with smashed clocks" , was to show an example of what I was expecting and is not the answer. Yet again this has turned into idle banter and nothing to do with the wiring.
It's true what we see in the movies about you lot. BLAME CANADA !!!!!!!

I've seen movies too and it's always the blue wire

    :kaboom:

So you still need help or what? I know if I went to any Honda dealer here and said "rc36" they would tell me they don't carry remote control toys. You don't search any of the parts diagrams by RC number.

if you have the manual (the honda one) for your type 2 RC36 then you would find the wirring harness schematic. Since I do not have a copy of the type 2 manual I will be general about this. In the engine run circuit you will find several kill switches and loops. Clutch handle, neutral switch, side stand, kill switch (on handle bar), bank angle sensor (detects lay overs, yours may not have this but my little cm200t does and its older) all should be part of this circuit in some fashion, remember diodes are used to prevent back feeding the arrow points to negitive. You should find in the instrument cluster connectors a loop that supplies either a negitive or a positive to the kill circuit. It is also possible that your bike is new enough to use a parrallel circuit to kill the engine, this is simply all kill switches short the positive coil (breaker points) terminal to negitive, thus preventing the coil from doing what it is supposed to. The loop through the instrument connections will provide the negitive from the battery. I have also seen the coil positive come from the instruments to prevent what you are trying to do.

Use your manual and the wealth of information in it. If your having difficulties with figuring it out, then you will have the information you need to understand what we are trying to tell you. If you want a step by step instruction on how to do this then I suggest you look on instructables.com. We provide technical help on a freelance basis, not step by steps.

Funny, I remember the last thread where Simon came along and basically said we were worthless, but you're still asking yet another question and looking for an answers?

I would like to speculate that your unplugged clocks also prevent you from exceed 220 km/h, but that's because your bike won't run! That must suck. But then again, that's pure speculation on my part.

Gotta run, now. My tee time is calling. FOOOORE!

BB would not go to S. Africa. They don't have Oprah reruns, jo-jos are non-existent, and ordering the right color paint is just dreadful.

Well, Simon. Last time I checked, when you cross the virtual divide and post in a web site homed in another country, the wise, intelligent and educated individual checks his ego at the door and learns the culture of the environment in which he has CHOSEN to place himself. You took cheerful and friendly banter as an opportunity to reply like an arrogant arsehole. See, I can spell things in a non-American dialect. Wow, does that make me special or more intelligent?

Do a search for motorcycle clocks on an American manufacturers' web site and see what you find. Yes, many parts of the rest of the world use the term "clocks" to mean gauges or instrument cluster. If you had half an inkling to actually communicate and not come off like a douchebag, you would have realized that in the United States that term would NOT be universal. Remember ..... our country is huge ...... and we didn't invite you. You invited yourself.

I understand what "clocks" means because I have participated on other sites with a fair number of European members. None as instantly assinine as you, by the way. You are clearly biased into thinking EVERYONE HERE should accommodate your sensibilities. You are sadly mistaken. You are the newcomer here, so YOU should educate yourself and learn how to act like an adult who has entered someone else's neighborhood. If you learn to act like a grown up and communicate in a respectful and constructive manner, then perhaps I and others will engage you in much more productive conversation. Should you continue to act like a petulant 8 year old, well then it will be entirely your loss. This forum has great potential for those who can act like they appreciate communication and not self indulgent pontification and "intellectual" auto-fellating.

Good day, you presently miserable wanker.

    Jose

Thank you orion viking shit head - you look like the old bass player from GWAR, are you a washed up rockstar or just trying to look like one ?
I'm no little man at 6ft 105kg and you need to get to the driving range my friend, that swing of yours needs attention.
I would appreciate an answer to this subject and would kindly ask someone to give me an idea what to do as I don't really understand those complex wiring diagrams. Hell, it's not even my bike I need this for, it's a friend of mine that's building a streetfighter thing.
I have a spare room and spare VFR if anyone is looking to come over here.
