Just picked up a front and rear PR3 for my '03 for $266 shipped! 180/55's are on closeout, the rest are on sale at a pretty hefty discount. You can also snag an extra 10% off your order if you get a quote from Dairyland Insurance and enter the quote number at checkout! Just make sure to opt out of e-mails from dairyland though, fuggers blew up my inbox the last time.

They were introduced almost a year ago. BikeBandit is probably trying to get rid of tires that have been on the shelf since last spring to make room for new stock. Just because they're on closeout doesn't mean they're discontinued.

I've been running them for almost a year now
They were on the market almost a year before I got them last spring so yeah, they are very new still.

Really? Michelin press release is dated 3/28/11, and most forums started chatting them up around January of last year, as an upcoming release. In the states, anyway. Either way, very good sneakers from what I've read. Gotta be better than my bald, dryrotting Dunlops.

Well. It seemed like they were around well before I got them and it was cold and raining like hell the day they were installed. My dates could be off.. Anyhow.....

Very good price and the tire has a great life but I personally will never go back to using Pilot Roads after trying out the Pilot Powers. I know they don't last as long but damn what a difference!!

crap. i was about to go check. I was going to use AMA discount for extra $$... Oh well. I'll keep an eye out at cyclegear. they sell so many tires that usually what they have is fairly new rubber.

After returning from R3 I found that the rear tire is a bit "square" from all of the slabbing I did/do and the front is cupping quite a bit. (Stock Dunlop Sportmax II). I found that Sportbike Track Gear has the PR3 set for $289.98 (Free shipping) and the PR2 set for $258.95 (Free shipping). Question, is the PR3 worth the extra $40? I'll also have to pay for mounting, etc. so that could be money towards that. My understanding is that the PR3 is a better wet weather tire but I don't know if that really pertains to us So Cal folks considering what little rain we get. Plus if it's really down pouring I take the car.

I like Bridgestone Battlax BT-023-GT Sport Touring Rear Tire
Bridgestone Battlax BT-023-GT Sport Touring Rear Tire - Street Bike - Motorcycle Superstore
I have PR on my bike and few times I had a near slip on corners going not too fast.I had BT23 before and I never had that occur which makes me think BT has softer gripper side walls.
Overall I am a big fan of BT23 and generally they are not expansive.Do a search on them you'll find almost all users very happy with them.

Thanks for chiming in Rubo, but I had already pulled the trigger on the PR2s. I have heard a lot of feedback from PR2 riders and all have had nothing but good things to say about wear and traction. If they don't work for me, then maybe the BT-023s will be my next tire. Not too keen on the Dunlops at the moment, for some reason a lot of riders are reporting cupping on the front tire, including myself. I have Q2s on my Duc but not enough miles on them to say how they will wear.

    Cheers.

The tires I replaced were sportmax's (old, starting to dryrot) and I had some funky wear also. Rear tire wore in OK but was a little square, but the front was pretty badly V shaped (sides wore down more than the center), and some slight cupping was happening. Been pretty happy with the PR3's so far, even took them out in the rain a bit a few weeks back and they did fine. Bought some tire spoons and rim protectors and swapped them myself too. Much easier than I would've imagined.

Just installed a set of PR3's on friday, but i haven't had a chance to give them a try yet. My father has a couple thousand on his set on his ST1300 and he doesn't have any complaints. For me, their capabilities in the rain were a big selling point. I hope to get a good amount of milage out of them for the little extra i payed.

1800 miles on my PR3's. 300 of those were in the pouring rain on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Headed to Laconia on the 13th and than to Nova Scotia on the 17th. No complaints so far. Oh and 22 miles on the Tail of the dragon! I wanted to run it more but my friends were worried that I was going to kill myself. Life is Good!

I too was on the dragon last weekend and Friday was an absolute washout. I have had my PR3's since Jan and have been very impressed but to ride the dragon in that kind of rain and have the tires stick as well as they did, From this day forward I will always have the PR3's on my VFR. We also rode Cherohala skyway and experienced almost every possible condition on one ride, rain puddled, high wind, fog(clouds), dry. I have video that I will cut down that will include every condition we experienced on the one road. Will post soon. If you are considering the PR3's, my recommendation is to consider no more...buy
