I'm starting this thread in an effort to find other VFR riders in Vegas. I find that VFR owners are one-of-a-kind, great people with a passion for riding, as well as solidly grounded and great sense of humor. I ride mine pretty much every day year-round for work errands and whatever I'm doing, and on the weekends I sometimes do some rides out of town either solo or with one or two groups that I feel comfortable with. I'd love to have some VFR riders along to share in the joy of riding in our beautiful desert. If you will be visiting Vegas, and want to ride, check this thread for any scheduled rides or post up requesting for ride partners. If you live in Vegas and just want to ride, post up here. Just some basic info. like what year your Viffer is and what kind of riding you like to do. I'll start the first post...
Maybe see you in April or May before R3. Will be coming through that way for sure. What is there to do in Vegas anyways?
Most call me Chicky or Chick, but my real name is Karen... I'll answer to just about anything if there's a ride happening! Mine is a 2007 that I've had since August of 2008. I just hit 37K miles on it and am quite ashamed it's not more... there have been a few times where I've spent stretches of time not riding so there is "some" explanation. I've had her on the track, I've done an Iron Butt ride on her and I try to do day trips and weekend trips out of town whenever possible. A couple of my favorite places to ride are Tecopa Hot Springs and pretty much anywhere in Death Valley. I'll also hit Red Rock, Mt. Charleston and the Lake occassionally. I just don't like the resident Po-Po in those areas. I'm up for even a "bike night" once in a while just to meet up in a small group someplace in town to talk bikes, road trips, and just have fun. This Thursday, 2/9, I will be making a run down the freeway to Stateline (Primm) for CA lottery tickets. All are welcome. I was going to go during the day, but if anyone else is interested, I can go pretty much anytime that works for you. Oh, and I am usually equipped with radar detector and communications, but I just got the new Chatterbox X1 slim and am having some difficulty. Not sure if I'll have it working by Thursday... and please pots up any rides you are doing so we can join you as well!!
Keep me/us posted Randy. Would be a great honor to have your highness grace us with your presence all the way from Canada!! As always, I've got a spare room and space in the garage if you need a place to lay your bones... Not sure I have room for your Secret Service and Motorcade, but I will do my best!!
Hi Chicki, my name is Mike and I live in Vegas and recently purchased one o my avorite Vfr's that I have had thru the years, a 94 750. I moved here 7 years ago rom Monticello NY where I was born and raised. I have not owned a car here and have been 2 wheeling vegas or the 7 years. I am a very experianced rider with owning 74 motorcycles. I LOVE to ride out o town on the weekends as I just did the Shosone-Death Valley ride last w/e. I wanted badly to go to Oatman today but my 2nd Rectum-frier went out AGAIN and is over charging. I just phoned a friend who has one so hopeully I wont be down but only a day. Anyway, I am ABSOLUTELY horrible at email and electric communication but i u would like to ride, feel free to give me a text/call. Mike Green Valley 371-4537
There is a group here called "My Two Wheels". They do alot of off-road and dual sport rides, but periodically they do some pure street rides. Here is one coming up in a couple of weeks I think I'm going to do. Down around Rt. 66, Mojave Nat'l Park, Amboy. Looks like they are making this a "small bike" ride, but they don't seem to mind if the "big bikes" take off on their own...which I do alot on any group rides I do. I usually get the route ahead of time so I know when/where they are planning to stop, and then I get there and wait for them while I relax and have a snack. If you're up for it, let me know and either you can join the group and RSVP for yourself, or I can just put you as a +1 on my RSVP. Hope some of you Vegas Viffers can make it!! Here's a link to the ride details... 3 of 12 Street Ride Through Mojave National Preserve to Ludlow Cafe on Route 66 - my2wheels.com
I'm interested. Do you know what the route will be? Is this a one day ride? Thanks. Oh yea, what's the date.
Hi Doug, glad to see you might go... all of that info is in the link I posted. I realize its not completely obvious so i will paste the link again.... below. 3 of 12 Street Ride Through Mojave National Preserve to Ludlow Cafe on Route 66 - my2wheels.com
So, is that a yes or a no? I'm still deciding if I'm going for sure. I want to but have been sick. Getting better every day and I'm hoping to keep on that path and be well enough to ride this weekend.
Oh yea, forgot about the in part. Yes, I'm in. See you at the Rebel close to 8:00. It's a good half hour drive from my house to the Rebel. I'll be on a 07 RWB, with a blue jacket on.
No problem... totally understand about being "over-forumed". I also contacted Mike, who also responded on here... but said he's not online much. He may show up as well, but won't know for sure if his schedule is free until the day before. I've let them know it will be me and a possible +2. Should be a fun day. I've been feeling much better, and may actually hop on the bike to ride to work tomorrow. I haven't ridden in about two weeks with this damn cold. But, it's all gone... so I'm back on two wheels!! Will be cool to have both versions of the '07 on a ride here in Vegas!!
How can Cupcakes be coming up when he lives north of you. Wouldn't Cupcakes be coming down then? Looking forward to giving you a shout in probably late april or early may Chicky, when I ride on through there and stop for a cuppa tea...or a shot of Scotch.
