So I was lucky enough to purchase a yellow cowl for my VFR.. The problem is that the paints don't match up..
I really want to avoid the repaint/color match as that will cost me an additional ~$50..
I was thinking of possibly vinyl wrapping it.. any suggestions (or even better yet, someone who is good with PS that can mock up some options?)..

    Here are some pics:

I know that the pictures don't do it justice.. but believe me.. when in daylight it drives me nuts (the cowl is a noticeably lighter yellow)..

    I know I'm a freak...

And the Hindle High mount is going on there Thursday (fingers crossed)..

I say choke it off and have it painted, only way to put it behind you.

will probably cost you $50 just for a small quantity of the right paint alone.

The Honda Yellow Pearl is a two stage paint. You can't just pick that up over the counter at Sherwin Williams Automotive Finishes. Must order the OEM paint.

If I had to venture a guess - I suspect the cowl matches pretty close in the sunlight and is more noticeable in the garage under artificial lighting.

Ehh it was pretty noticeable in the sunlight.. Plus the cowl I have is the OEM Honda Paint.. the bike was repainted a yellow-orangish color by the previous owner..

A person on my local CT forum suggested something like this:

I might e-mail some M/C companies and see if they want to donate some stickers..
If I hate it I can always peel the stickers off..

Actually more Tink. The best mata can do is buy the OEM spray cans from Color-Rite. 30 bucks for the base, 30 bucks for the top coat, then 15 bucks for the clear. Add shipping too.

In addition, there is a high chance it still will not match EXACTLY afterward due to the sun exposure the rest of the bike has had or not had.

I have seen this quite a bit lately in some professional touch up prohjects and I ahve had it happen to me when re-painting just a particular area of a bike. Sometimes you can't tell until sunset or only during sunrise. Its weird.

In the end matasickle, almost 100 bucks in paint to maybe get it to match better isn't really worth it.

Lastly, if you do paint it and it matches exact you will drop it on the floor and scratch it. this is how life goes...you have been warned.

Repaint it the wrap I feel will drag the looks of the bike down.

A forum member who is a professional painter quoted me at $50 to color match..
And as some of you know (Bubba) I'm super cheap.. :p

Just weighing my options.. in the end I just might try to overcome my OCD and leave it as is..

My cowl is original and it has never matched the bike since I've had it because I do not have the cowl on all the time. Even if you do color match it, it won't stay that way...

I'm with Matt and think stickers would look like shit but surely add at least 30mph to the top speed of the bike

$50 to color match the cowl is a steal assuming the guy is good. I'm paying $150 to have my tank professionally painted and clear coated, with MY already purchased materials.

When you want shit done right, write the check. Go cheap and buy it twice like I just did buying grips on ebay to find they suck and I'll have to go buy ANOTHER set.

I would agree that $50 toward brake lines would be money well spent.

God God man! Don't ask about oil/filter/tires. Ever.

Or just get the SuperTech ST6607 or ST7317,at Wal-Mart for about $3.

I use the ST6607 on all of my bikes because it's shorter and fits everything I own. The ST7317 is about an inch longer.

I will get the priorities done and see what I have left for visuals..

    "thanks"

So the bolded filters will fit my 2000 VFR and are "recommended"?
Just want to be 100% clear.
