Reading the post on this section makes me long for my 5th gen, that I sold like an idiot. I just picked up a 2nd gen with 12000 on it pristine, but I miss the FI.

I also miss the 4th gen I had, before the AH pickup driver smashed it and me....

Having owned three gen's it interesting how they are different yet the same.

I noticed that myself when riding the new 2010 VFR1200 back a couple years ago. It was totally new bike but still felt kind of like my 98...

After owning my current Gen 5 now for nearly 7 years know I'd miss mine if I was ever dum enough to sell it, last year was talking to a dealer while waiting for a friend to pick his new bike he asked if I was looking I answered him with " even if genuinely tempted by a great deal I'd only snatch my VFRs keys back and sprint off just before signing "... Was on a ride today with a FZ1S MK1 owner who until 2 years ago used to ride a Gen 3, when asked about the change he remarked the FZ1 was a better bike for him (being quite tall) but was souless in comparison and missing that something special he felt riding his old VFR.

I have a 98 in great condition I sometimes consider selling so I could get back into dirt bikes. But the fear of regret later keeps me from selling it. I. Have had three other generations and although my 86 seemed faster and sounded better I wouldn't give up my 98 for another 86. Had a chance to get a new 6th gen but the trade off of gear driven cams for v-tec just didn't seem like something I could live with. In a perfect world I would own a fleet of different bikes.

I have a 3rd gen you should buy. No it's not FI, but you've tried a few others so why not a 3rd gen too?

I did look for one before I found my current pristine 86'. I could find a cheap project bike I might consider it.

I just picked up a 86 700F the Red, white and blue one. Near show room condition, 12000 miles, never down, never raced, never really ridden, and bone stock, and 1 owner. Very rare find.

Very nice. You should sell that to me. Just kidding. I just got finished riding about 150 miles of backroads in tennessee on my 98 and love it more and more. But i do still miss my 86. But i dont miss having to clean those white wheels although they sure look good when clean. Again very nice 86.
