    Okay gang,

I've had enough positive response from the SabMag list to know we want a 2012 'Spring Fling' event!

The plan is to have our 'base camp' here: Gold Country Campground Resort - Enjoy California Gold Country Camping

Please note I've contacted them and hope to nail things down in the next few weeks. This place has upgraded their accomodations since our last event there, and now have motel rooms, cabins, and campgrounds. PLEASE DON'T CONTACT THEM YET! I'm hoping we can get a 'group rate' and block off the motel rooms and perhaps some of the cabins for our event.

Here's what we would have planned:

    Friday May 18
    - Arrivals, greeting, kicking tires, telling lies, and local riding for anyone with a mind to do that
    - Pizza & beverages out in front of the motel rooms.

    Saturday May 19
    - The official 'Fling Ryde', with detailed route instructions and maps for each bike.
We will break up the ride into several groups, with a 'nuthammer' bunch out front, probably 3-4 mid-level groups, and a 'tourist' group taking up the rear. The ride will consist of four 'legs', with a stop in between to stretch, chat, etc. and lunch in the middle. After the post-lunch break what typically happens is some folks will take off on a longer ride (plenty of routes to choose from) while others (including me and the wife) head back to prepare for:
    - The 'Fling Feast' with BBQ and trimmings for everyone, at the home base.

    Sunday May 20
    - Usually a group breakfast at one of the local eateries
    - Departures

IF YOU WANT TO PLAN ON MAKING THIS EVENT, PLEASE SEND ME A PM HERE!

    Thanks, and ride safe!

Okay, I'll put you on the list

I could do lunch. You're in Sac? Perhaps someplace in Folsom or Eldorado Hills?

I'm aware; but there are definitely reasons to have it that weekend - and there's plenty to go around. Reg is 300 miles away, I don't think we'll get in each others way.

    Put it in your calendar!

Just heard back from the Gold Country folks (Lori), and we're on for that weekend. I've given her some additional info, and should hear back in the next day or two about blocking off all the motel rooms and 4-5 tent campsites for us.

Please don't make your reservations until I post here that it's time. I'm still working on a price break.

    Stay tuned!

It's on. We have all of the motel rooms and tent campsites 119-123.

Call Lori at 209-296-4650 and let her know you're with the SabMag group.

I do like the idea of joining everyone for R3 and having a VFR fest. Yet while I know some of you iron butt folks out there will be at Reggie's, it is a bit far away for my tastes. This happening is more in my neck of the woods. How many "World Citizens" are planning on attending?

I agree, sixty miles is a bitch. With motels, fill ups and Jo-jo stops a ride like that could take days.

Well, I don't know about where you're at there Billy, but I'm round about 250 miles away. No it's not outlandish, but I have family in Rocklin.

So a Gold Country outing is a day trip with no taking days off or tent sleeping. That's AWFUL convenient for me.

Yo... Hose... This event is only about 60 miles east-southeast of Sacramento. I'm only about 125 miles from Infineon. Mapquest shows the mileage from Napa to Pine Grove at roughly 115 miles. What route are you taking that's 250 miles?

he meant it's 250 to my neck o'the woods. I ride up to Napa on occasion myself. Actually, last time I was there was with Toe Cutter for some flat track racing. Good times. While 250 miles is not much to most of us, I understand that to some folks, it's quite a haul.
