Before I go out and start to remove my tail light bulb on my 2002 , would any one know if on the bulbs lower base, do they have a metal bayonet base and if so are there 1 or 2 silver contacts ? I know this is the lazy way to find out, but it may be the easiest. Thanks

I agree. All that work taking off the seat and possibly getting my manicure all dirty is not appealing to me either. I have heard that handling lightbulbs give people cancer.

what kind of LED are you planning on putting in there, unless it's a true array it will probably be dimmer than the stock bulb.

The only effective stock replacements are the spyder(or spider, can't remember how they spell it) LED lights and even then they aren't that great. You are better off using some kind of array that will mount in there or just building your own. You'll get far more light and it will actually be seen by other cars.

Thanks Bone man. I found a small Hyper-light with 12 LED lights that I think I'm going to use and they flash three times then stay lit when braking. Thanks for the info .

check out I believe it's Custom Dynamics Motorcycle LED Lights Motorcycle LEDs Lighting Accessories

they have a ton of stuff. as for modulators, you will more than likely want this one:

Street Magic® Gen2 Ultimate Magic Strobes Brake Light Flasher™

you can see it in action here:

    Kawasaki Motorcycle Led Tail Light

I know the page says kawasaki but the modulator is on the bottom part of the page and will work with any bike.

Also if switching to an LED tail you will more that likely want to get a voltage regulator as well. so that you don't burn the bulb out too fast.

Does this outfit have LED signs that say " If you can read this, the bitch fell off?" I realize that using a prepositional phrase is tacky but I know a whole bunch of harleydoods that would pay cash for a sign like that.
Some others might say. "Sturgis or Bust!" , "I Love Fat Boys", " We Are a Walmart Family" , " God Bless Evel Knevel" , " HD a way of life/ E. Smith General Dentistry"

I'd buy "get off my ass, whore!". LOL. Custom dynamics makes a lot of stuff. I recently put a modulator on my friends brake light, he's got a Yamaha stryker with a stock LED tail. Just wired in modulator and set it 6 and it works like a charm...

One of these days I'll take some video of it but I've been lazy.... lol.

no problem, I would also get one of their 6inch LED strips and stick it right on top of your license plate, it'll give you twice the amount of tail light and just make it all the more visible.

The precedent for legal LED illumination is being set as we speak. Running lights, headlamps, turn signals and farkle lights on cars, bunches of trucks and bikes

At last look, the California Vehicle Code was online.

very true. There is a company taht is supposed to be releasing LED housings to place in stock headlight bulb sockets. They come with like a projector housing and the high powered LED all in one and a heatsink off the back and then the stock wires plug into the back of that. I haven't been able to find the article lately though, I was trying to find it so I could see what is going on with the company, hopefully they didn't go bankrupt................
custom dynamics also has what they call the BACK OFF modulators, they work pretty good, they are like 32 bucks or so and just get wired inline.
