The only gasket in the cooling system I can't seem to replace is for the water pump cover. I wouldn't bother but there is a small amount of weeping coming from the water pump. Anybody have an idea of where I could source one?

Withoot looking I would think it is easy enough to make one. I keep a sheet of gasket material on the truck for lack of planning emergencies, never happy aboot it when I have to but quick enough when done.

Thanks, gang. I've got permatex in there with the old gasket but it has a slow weep. I'll yank the water pump and make sure all surfaces are totally dry/clean this time instead of doing the job with the pump in situ. Is there anything I should be checking for to make sure it is just the cover gasket and not the shaft seals of the pump that are leaking?

2010 VFR1200F ony 600 miles when notice weeping.

2010 VFR1200F just put on 600 miles when notice weeping. Only had the bike for 8 days so took back to dealer to check out and they said my is the second 1 with this issue. Been waiting for new water pump 3 weeks and was told is know issue from Honda. Now service is saying honda has build a whole new water pump new design water pumpm and that is why it is taking so long to get another one.

That's what's so cool about new bikes ! With all those years of manufacturing design experience since 1946, the standards in the motorcycle industry are of the highest quality only, and important parts would be likely to last a bit more than 600 miles.

Has Honda started hiring younger design and mechanical engineers from the worst universities so they can pay them less ?

Sorry, but i don't think there is ANY excuse for the world's lagest motor manufacturer not to produce a simple, reliable water pump on their most expensive bike !

It's no good to have an ultra-sophisticated clutch if simple stuff isn't reliable.
