Long Way Around

I'm sure most everyone has seen or heard about this documentary but I just started watching it today. While I agree that planning is the biggest part in a motorcycle trip around the world but there is a little too much reality TV drama in the first two episodes. It starts to get really good on episode three. Here's a link to stream it for free on the interweb.

I agree that the first couple episodes are a little tough to get through, but after that, the series is amazing. Be sure to check out the sequel (Long Way Down), not as good as the first IMO, still worth watching though. I'm waiting for the third installment!

Two great motorcycle documentaries. The chemistry between Ewan and Charlie is infectious, and their adventures are epic.

I always wanted to ride but was told by, quite literally everyone not to.
LWR inspired me to give everyone the finger and do the Motorcycle safety Courses and buy my first bike. (The VF500)

 

I have watched it a couple of times a Long's house, he is addicted to it and that is all that was on his TV the last two times I was there. Great to watch.

 

Hehehehehe I will be showing the same on our next gathering............ lol

 

After seeing the thread yesterday, I watched a few episodes last night, I think I will enjoy it, thanks for posting about it.

 

So far I'm on episode 6 and really enjoying the show. I makes me want to start small and just ride across the USA or Canada!

 

Tell me, Mr. C, how you plan to ride across the country when you and your bike are separated by two states!?!? Huh!?!?

Wasn't a bad show. I did get a good laugh out of Ewan's sniveling after things started to get to him. I'm thinking " you're rich and you're riding a bike around the world on a lark. STFU"

 

Yeah like when KTM pulls out and they have to settle for a FREE BMW instead of a FREE KTM. Or when Ewan gets upset because the Russians shoot the bear so they can sell the skin and have money to feed their families. It's easy to have high moral standards when you're a rich movie star and not a Russian living in Siberia.

All and all I really enjoyed the show.

 

LOL when they were in Africa, I think it was Ethiopia and there army body guards went and bough a goat to eat and one of the support crew debated weather to eat it.

 

I enjoyed Long way round, but I prefer Charlie's "By any means" (Ireland to Sydney or from the book, Wicklow to Wollongong), although I read the book 1st, really enjoyed the TV series. I think it really showed up which one of the two I'd rather go on a round the world bike trip with. Bet the idiot at KTM that said no to the donor bikes, probably don't work there anymore.
