Hello all, the '07 viffer has about 400 miles on her now, I went to ride yesterday and was sent right back into my house for my allen wrench set. The gas cap screws were ALL loose (one was ready to fall out), so I checked the fairing screws, also ALL loose  (some worse than others), I went over some of the rest of the bike but am sure I didnt check them all.

Is this a normal thing, to have to tighten up everything every now and then? :bowl:

The thing rides like a champ and I am starting to use the power more now that she is more broken in. What a bike...

if you are under 500 miles with that many loose, that's a slack a$$ set-up guy from what it sounds like. They are charged with checking torque on certain bolts etc and general tightenings.

I ran a Yamaha/Triumph shop for 5 years and we let an R6 go with a loose head bolt/ triple tree bolt. It spun off by hand... Thank god the guy didn't wreck, but he got some free swag... you can be assured. i would complain, loudly and see if they want to keep your business.

now im paranoid about the more important bolts, will be checking as many as i can find when i get home, your right I will have to call the dealer, I'm bringing it back to them for its first oil change in a week or so, so maybe I can talk them into giving me some sort of hookup.

Man would i be pissed if I ended up on the ground due to some assembly fault.

Nope, that's not right, man I'd be checking the more important nuts and bolts, god knows what else was missed. Whew close call, I'd be all over the dealer on this one.

Also, I'd be keeping a detailed, written record of all the interactions you're having with the shop. If, god forbid, something falls apart that results in damage or injury, you'll be glad you had the documentation that they half-assedly assembled the thing.

you've got to report it to the dealer, how else can they fix the problem. most dealers will go over the bike on the first service, they gave me a list of what they looked at.

Wow! I agree with everyone else. Close call. Good job on checking those yourself. I know I don't do that enough. I'm gonna go over mine again tomorrow.

Bring it back and make them do it or they'll blame you if something isn't quite right because you didn't have the torque specs., made unauthorized adjustments., blah, blah, blah...
Document everything you've found as said by some of the other guys and show the shop manager. He'll realize you aren't kidding around. Had a similar incident but nothing like what you have found.
Then bring it home and go over it yourself - you'll do a better job, because you actually care AND you get to play with the new RWB - sweet!

Congrats on the gorgeous new toy.
