I'm thinking about buying a new VFR 06 or 07 and I was talking to a friend about his new 07 RWB  and he told me the only down fall to his, is the noise that it makes when the Vtec kicks in. He says that it sounds like a leaf stuck in the fan blades. I was wondering is this a normal sound and if so does it go away after the bike is broke in?

Now I call it a snarl. I love the sound of the VTEC kicking in. Very distinctive. Kind of a get out of the way here I come sound.

That's a pretty accurate description, but it does improve as the motor breaks in.

It's more like with an older V8 with a 4-barrel carb. it's one of those sounds that grows on you (quickly) specially when you feel the extra power.

Sounds like a reasonable description, the brief noise is due to the pins hydraulically slipping into their slots enabling the second set of valves to operate, but don't fixate about it as an issue, its not and may even add to the VTec fun and as Placerville KG mentions it should get quieter with the miles.

Sounds quieter and smoother below VTec

I like to think iof it sounding much quieter and smoother than a full time 4 vlve per cyl bike, before the VTec kicks in. When it does kick in it sounds like 4 per cyl bike. :bowl:
