I'll be attaching a Ventura luggage rack to my 1986 VF500F2F (full faired Euro model) over the Xmas holiday. I don't think I've seen any pictures of this system posted on here before. Anyway its one of the few systems left you can still purchase new for the VF (at a price, and what a price!). It won’t be for everyone, but I already had this luggage for my 07 GSX-R750, so I didn't have to buy the actual bag, only the rack and grab handle. I was hoping that there might be some commonality between the bikes but there wasn't...Here are a few pictures. I'll post updates as I go along.

The commonality is in the bags and part of the rack assembly. What you needed was the "grab handles" made specifically for your bike.

Some pictures attached. Delay was caused by me getting side tracked into removing and cleaning the carbs. Didn't need doing but hindsight is a wonderful thing. The side arms use the aluminium cast rails that hold the indicators on. Surprisingly these are pre-drilled and the side arms bolt right on making fiiting a doddle. However I have run into a snag. Probably a result of Ventura not making these for donkeys years. Anyway when the side arms are fitted the pack rack or grab rail won't fit. If I unbolt a side arm and then fit the pack rack then you can see the misalignment. Not a big deal. I can bodge it. As I said, I bet Ventura haven't made one of these in years. I'll post more when I have it sorted.

Well it took quite a bit of huffing and puffing but I managed to fit the sidearms in a position that allows the pack rack or grab rail to fit OK. I had to bend one of the sidearm brackets, but only a bit so it will be fine. Some pictures of the luggage with and without storm cover fitted. I have had the Spada pack for about 5 years, attached to my GSX-R. I travel alone mostly and have always been a bit worried about lack of security, when going for a slash for example. I bought the storm cover to make it a little less obvious how insecure the luggage is, (and to keep the rain off). I can't really recommend Ventura luggage as I think it is seriously overpriced for what it is. However it does work OK and now I can tour on the VF, which is good.
