    Hello,
New member Varooom here. I miss my 1985 700cc Interceptor and read about the VFR750F in the November issue of Cycle World. Seems to be a few improvements and I'm eyeing a 1996 that may be for sale around here.
Wondering how my 6'3" body will feel doing sport touring on this model; any input?
    Thanks,
    Varooom

am 5'11" 235 and rode my '90 965miles in one day.

probably not as comfy as some other options but do-able.

A few inprovements vs. your old VF?? No, sir, a world of improvements that make the '94 to '97 VFRs some of the most lovable bikes Honda ever dropped onto the US market ! Debatably, the gen 4 was Honda's best VFR. All the magazines called it "Refined" and the 750 Motorcycle of the Year for a decade. Gotta have those g-d cams, !!!!!!!!!

The bike is so sweet to ride you could easily endure a bit of discomfort if there is any or maybe you'd do better on a BMW ?

Be sure to bring your own tire pressure tester and check for yourself before any test ride.

Owner may not have been riding it for awhile, so no need for him to set proper pressure and nobody knows how long ago that was checked and you're going out to ride with 12 psi ???? Not me !!! Not again after so many times !! And he has no tire inflator at home, so you should expect low air.

Very important for tire pressures to be spot-on for any test ride for SO many reasons on HIS bike for your SAFETY.

We have a winner for the understatement of the year. Not beating up on gen 1 but the two animals are beyond comparison.

No worries; as soon as we get it repaired, I'll drive it out in the coming snowstorm, put sled runners on it and take pictures. Seriously, had a regulator failure on my maiden drive and am awaiting part, which I've heard I should carry a spare of.

If you got any pictures of hot women you can post them up in the meantime. Oh, and congratulations.

You can use one of those photobucket or tinypic places.

That's what I was ruminating about as I sat by the roadside today. Now, about the gigs of info on solving the problem; has anyone a good solution or do I really have to carry a spare reg. in my saddle?

what appears to be the RR is not always the case. Quick assumption and everyone always thinks it's the RR. When actually it could be a poor electrical connection at the stator plug or starter relay

Gen 3 and 4 R/R should be replaced with another style, the very worst of the worst. Poor connections do not help but if your changing it change to something better.

Amen to that. Just know that I pitched my 3rd gen RR and continued to chase ghosts until all the connections were replaced. In the end, the original RR was probably good and would have worked great as a spare.

What a bunch of whiners. I'm still running my 95 with the original RR. I think it is just bad maintenance practices on their behalf. heehee

In hind sight, Squirrelly should have warned you about the battery being low, as well as the tires.

It's no biggie, just get it replaced, check the battery, and have fun, but be careful when riding in the snow.

Good point !! That's another thing i've learned about looking at used bikes: take a voltmeter (along with your tire pressire gauge) so you can easily check charging system output.

This will all work out fine. The Seller has the RR on order, is quite sure that it's the culprit and will make it right. For now, it's 30 out and Santa seems to have arrived in my garage!
Looking forward to more of those 50 degree days we've been enjoying here in NH over the coming weeks of 'global warming New England,'
