well God damn, he's still got the PAIR system installed.

the VFRW performance dreamers would have to rip that shit right off there.

I know they aren't installed on the factory Honda race bikes......looked a couple of them over at the Honda Museum and they didn't have a pair system installed. The VFRW intelligencia will have a hard time explaining that.

Not surprising when ounces of weight equal thousandths of a second on lap times that an actual race bike would not have it on there.

Hahahahahaha, it's always easier to rationalize something if it supports your opinion or argument position. Keep up the good work.

I know this guy. Used to come in to the Honda Shop.
I've seen it in person a few times. Only thing that was "off" was someone swiss-cheesed the inner fairing panels, IIRC.

Edit: Looks like they have been replaced.

I thought the RC30 had titanium exhaust?

Only the factory-built race bikes had the hand-crafted TI setup, probably available as HRC part to anyone with the cash. The system was so beautifuly assembled--from about 100 precisely hand cut and TI- welded pieces--that it belonged in a metal working musuem. The best Italian craftsmen of the renaissance never made anything better looking than the Honda race systems, almost always 4-into-2-into 1 as seen on the various VF/VFRs the factory raced throughout the era beginning in '83/'85.

    Oh I see.

The custom intake on this RC30 looks crazy. Like an aluminum airbox rim holding a peice of foam.

Of course it has the finest possible history (World championships), the most advanced engineering on the road, hand-crafted engine, probably the most advanced road bike of its brief time, and has looks to sell your wife for, an undisputed museum-piece...............but i believe most contemporary slightly-modified 600 cc sportbikes that you could easily find on craigslist today would exceed the performance envelope of the RC-30 in almost catagories although not the mechanical artistry.

An average 4 or 5 year old R1, GSXR 750, CBR 600 that might go for $5000-$6000 used, is more capable of everything than an "average" RC-30 but will never have the authentic heritage. Remember that all RC-30s you see are not created equal, and adding most of the special HRC parts that did not come on the stock bike as sold anywhere transformed it into the world-class superbike it was designed at the cost of somewhere near $100,000 with that exotic TI exhaust. Today, an RC-30 with the odd-sized wheels is a very beautiful, historic, rare........ dynosaur better suited to a shrine than a highway.

The RC-30s sold anywhere at Honda dealerships were homologation bikes, something to authenticate that it was a normal production bike ( although it never was) available to anyone, but under the international racing rules, modifications were permitted for racing that devided RC-30s into at least 2 distinct classes.

Early serial numbers might not be good, since builds always improve with more knowledge. Very early RC-30 race bikes had several engine failures....not enough side-play between con rods on the same crank throw. Ask Fred.

I kind of get what you are saying, that this is outdated tech. Then again somethings like the RC30 (and the P51D) simply can't be topped...

What is with the "not for highway use" stickers on the Magnesium wheels?

Real numbers from an English magazine test done in 1990 say 92.6 hp @ 12,500 rpm/47 ft-lb @ 9600 rpm.

I have an old Magazine article where they test an RC30 and they scoff at the pitiful performance numbers.......and then they ride it and praise it as one of the greatest bikes ever.
