Failure of two cylinders is classic CDI failure for gen 1 and 2. Do not shoot the messenger.

i have spark on at cylinders, but the bike has been sittin for about a year so is it possible that the front set of carbs are gummed up and the back set not
    sorry for the confusion

I would pull the airbox off and crank. pour a tablespoon or so of raw fuel down the rear two carbs and see if it fires. A little shot of starting fluid would work too.

if you hear a noticeable difference, you've proven there is a problem with the fuel system.

i pulled the air box off, poured a little fuel directly into the carbs,it shut off.
but i did notice that one of the carbs wasn't opening when the rest did.
i then opened the carb to the same height the rest were opened and it ran better, not like it should but better.
so i guess get the carbs rebuilt and sync ????
