Hey yall! James here. Just wanted to say hello again and that I pulled the trigger and traded the Sportster for the 2007 VFR800 (RWB). First time I saw this bike, about a month ago, I knew that I was going to buy one.

I picked it up yesterday after work and rode it around a little today just trying to feel her out. I must say, this is definitely not a cruiser, haha. It's not uncomfortable, but I can see that I will be getting the Heli-Bars. It came with a brand new Corbin two up seat and a passenger back rest (which I will be selling). The seat is awesome, but needs to be broken in, as it is very slick on my leather pants. Bike only had 3800 miles when I picked it up. Also came with the hard bags and lowering kit (that's getting sold as well).

First Ride Report: Man, this this is freaking fast. Well, the fastest bike I have ever been on. I went to pass a semi on the interstate and pulled back on the throttle like normal and next thing I know, 99mph! I normally never go above 80, as there is no reason for me to do so, but it was very easy on the Interceptor. The wind buffeting is somewhat annoying, as I never had to deal with it on the Sporty, but I suspect that I will be used to it in no time. Other than my wrists, I don't feel cramped on this bike at all. Fairly relaxed, until I rip it open, haha!

I do have a request though. As I said, this came with a lowering kit. I saw it on here last night. I think the name starts with an "S". It came with the dogbone for the rear, and the blocks for the front as well as a extended kickstand. I want to take them off soon but don't have a service manual yet and don't know what the torque specs are for the stock bone and the front forks. Please let me know if you can help. Ok, going to list a few parts now and read up on some more stuff in the forums.

I live in Knoxville if anyone wants to ride to a Starbucks and chat or slay the Dragon one Sunday morning (the safest time).

I'll have to get the pics up tomorrow. We were busy as hell trying to stuff 3 bikes, a car and a truck into the garage today and never did take a picture. Just imagine a super sweet 2007 RWB and mines just like that one, only cooler, haha. I'll gets some of the CBR too, that is one fun little scoot.

By the way, I am interested in you signature: 8541?

    Congrats on the purchase bro!

I bought a brand new 96ci / 6spd Road King when I got home from Iraq, and if I woulda known then what I know now I would have been the 1ST owner of my '07 RWB- not the second!

If you're just getting off Hogs than take it easy, as these are like going from a kite to a jet fighter. I had a ZX-11 in between my harley and the '07 RWB I have now, so I'd had time to get re-aquainted with sport bike power, and actually slowed down by buying the VFR. BUT- now I can hang corners all the way to the outside edge of the tire instead of just being a straight-line missile...

Enjoy it- you'll love her more & more with every ride. Just watch the r's in the corners, the first time you trigger the vtec while in mid lean you'll be changing your shorts!

BTW: I'm an hour south of Atlanta, and I just sold my other VFR to a fella in your neck of the woods. There are a bunch of us within a few hours of each other, so we oughta set somethin up...

Congratulations on scoring yourself that RWB. Enjoy it,they're beautiful machines.

Sounds like you might have a Sigma Cycles lowering kit. Here are some of the torque specs for the suspension components on your bike.

To convert Newton meters into foot pounds divide by 1.355 and then round that number up to the next highest number. For example the four suspension linkage pivot bolts you see in the pic below are all 42 Nm.
42 divided by 1.355 equals 30.996 or 31 foot pounds. Hope this helps Knoxvegas, post up some pics when you can.

I hope you're not wearing your old H-D chaps on that RWB, man!

But seriously, you got the BEST colour scheme of all. I am jealous. Plus, you'll find it a lot more reliable than your old Hardley.

Welcome...having owned both harleys and a vfr...they are a bit different, eh?

I'd say wait on the heli bars. Not that you may not end up with them...but you are getting used to an entirely different riding position...give it time and don't rest on your wrists :) Maybe a mod you don't need.

    New VFR now with pictures

Thanks for the replies guys (gals?)!

VFRHUSBAND: I was an 0311/8541/8531 from 95-99 and then 2002 for the entire year. Semper Fi (and what ever the Army says)

stoshmonster: Thanks for the chart, I will put that to use until I get my service Manual. Lucky for me, my torque wrenches come in Newton meters and pounds, so there is no need for me to think, haha.

Toecutter: No thanks on the supercharger, I saw your gore and all I could think was DAMN!!!!! Good job on it though, looks fun in a "Ima shit myself scared" sort of way!

Everyone else: here some pictures from a 150 mile round trip to Cumberland Gap, Ky that I went on to stretch her legs out on twistys, Super Slab, and everything in between. By the way, I do smile, but it's really hard for me to in photos. Trust me, I am very happy in these pics. It was a fun ride, and that VFR is really comfy, except for the wrists and upper back. Heli on order. Anyone want to buy the lowering kit when I shitcan it next week? Oh, and 105 on the interstate was a very new experience.

You just need to replace those stock rims with some white ones. Or gold.

Which mounting bracket are you using for your GPS?

The mount is a regular Ram Mount. I wrapped a piece of leather around the upper triple tree and then use pipe clamps to secure the bottom knob thing of the Ram mount to the tree and the rest works as it should. I think I will find some heavy duty black zip ties next, as the pipe clamps look a little redneck.

82ndGreasemonkey: If you go my route on the mount, just go to a local leather shop and get some of their scraps. Couple of bucks at most. I used it a lot on my Harley when I did not want to scratch from friction. If its thick yet pliable, you should not run into any friction problems, and it also keeps the mounts from wiggling.

My cockpit already has a gear display in that location:

So I think I'm gonna get a bit creative and mount it from the windscreen frame. I'll take it apart & start drawing somethin up tomorrow. I gotta pull the wheels for new rubber & clean it up anyway, so fuggit- I'll just do this at the same time.

Or, if you want to go with some of the silver rims, I will trade you for your black ones.

Wish I could have ridden today. It was a great day for riding around Southern Kentucky. We had family Thanksgiving today instead.
