Is there any tip-over protection accessories?

I'm sure sooner or later I'm going to drop my VFR. I'm not talking skidding down the road. Just the normal stuff like either a tip-over, slipping in the gravel, moving it out of the garage, or even forgetting to put the kickstand down and stepping off the bike. It was a very long day and I was tired on the last mentioned item. It looks like one drop would break something. And it looks like it would be something expensive.

Sliders saved me some rash at a tipover at a gas station (slow drop).

I'm fairly certain that will be my first mod. I'm expecting a few slow drops. My ST1100 has been dropped many times. Usually the side cases, tip-over wing and mirror covers take the brunt of the fall. Once the ST leans to the point of no return, you just have to get out of the way. I'm sure the VFR is the same way. I'm sure a big part of the problem is my "stumpy" legs. Loose gravel has gotten me a few times. So what hits the ground first on the VFR? I would think the little post would just act like a fulcrum and the bike would continue over.

Lower your seat or your bike. See Google images "crashbars". There are boots on some of the more interesting websites that will add to your leg length.

They may not be popular in some circles there in Idaho.

You are right. Hi-heeled boots don't go over real well in this part of the country. Well, at least on guys. I'll have to look into lowering the seat or bike. Usually lowering of the bike will cause some sort of negative side-effect.

There are a couple of dudes here that probably can provide you with more info on those boots. One just moved from California to New York and the other dude is from somewhere in Northern California. ;)

The custom seat may be your best bet. No experience with those lowering kits at all. Hang in there, and keep checking. There are some savvy folks here with lots of realtime experience.

Frame sliders are great and cheap insurance. Most are I think Nylon and will act as fulcrums like you say but fixing a bigass chunk of ABS or popping for a new mirror is pricy..

My 93 is no stranger to dah tarmac, it never left me stranded and I was able to bend a shift lever back, or hell, re-adjust the mirrors? The body work basically saved dah bike. Now how-ever living in a flat arse state and not straffing apexes anymore, I have slowed down in that regard. Add to the formula 300 or 400 dollars worth of paint and body work, hitting the deck would require a two martini minimum : ( bike looks better now than when I bought it. I am waiting on a new windscreen though. Good luck, I liked the old carbureted STs not the newer ones that looked like they had an endocrine disorder, kinda loved hating those models (personal demon, long story) lol gud luck

I know with a tip-over on the ST it gets real expensive. The mirror cover is "suppose" to pop off and the mirror is "suppose" to fold back. That never seems to happen. When an ST falls over it usually goes straight over on it's side. So, the parts hit the ground square on. There is no where for the mirror and cover to go but straight into the bike. And then it is required that the side cases get all scuffed up when they grind into the pavement. The side cases are so expensive that they will sometimes "total" a bike if they have to be replaced!

I'm not sure what part of the VFR hits the ground or gets damaged first on a tip-over. I guess I shouldn't fixate on dropping the bike. If I never drop it that won't be a problem. Right....

I agree it is a lot easier not to tip the bike while you are riding it. I've been doing a little wind therapy for the last three days and I'll be out again today. It seems lot more stable when I'm moving down the road. Now if I can only figure out a way to never have to stop. Hum....

Welcome to another Idahoan VFR! I have been looking at sliders. Just haven't gotten around to getting them.

These look good but the fish is mushy.

Tilapia Sliders Recipe : : Food Network

Probably some fair one's at Jazz home games, if making them is too much of a hassle.

DAMN BB, that is exactly what I meant. I think the buns would add that extra layer of protection with the fish used like a shock absorbing substance. Where is the tartar sauce?
