What colour and finish would you say the vf500 interceptor 86 are?
    Black matt or satin
    What you think?

Black matt, satin would be a nightmare to keep clean.

That's pretty subjective, and varies widely between paint manufacturers. Best to spray up some cardboard with both and see what's closest if you're trying to find a paint to match. Satin is generally slightly shinier that matte, without being gloss.

If I am not mistaken VF500's calipers are just anodized not painted.

+1, I don't believe these are painted, rather they are anodized with a relatively matte finish. I have the color specs for the 500, including the frame, but nothing on the calipers. Perhaps you can take one of the calipers to a local paint store to see if they can match the color?

Painting calipers on any bike other than what God had intended, is akin to kicking an old lady down three flights of stairs.

bead blasted and left natural. Factory race machine calipers aren't painted for a reason, heat dissipation being one of them.

Good deal. Look forward to seeing the photos.

If I could make a suggestion, inspect the valve train and set the valve lash while you are working on the rebuild. It is good to have these items checked off on the clipboard.

    It is.

There are lots of very helpful people here who have a good deal of knowledge working on vintage V4s.

I am not sure what the deal is with banter above but this isn't typical of the posts I've been interested in reading.

Good luck with your project bike and please keep us posted on the progress.
