Hello, I saw on here someplace where someone was talking about buying the color match paint for our bikes, 1995 VFR 750F RED, Someone said you can get this in spray cans, I have a few dings and scratches i am gonna fix this winter and if someone could tell me where i could find this paint i would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I belive this is the stuff everyone swears by that is the correct factory colors. Still probably won't match what's on the bike now, but it should get you back to factory fresh if you do the whole bike.

Honda's Italian Red is R-157. Not sure if this has changed over the years, but the 5th and 6th gen red is this code I believe. At any rate the code should be marked on the bike somewhere. It's on the seat rail on my 6th gen.

EDIT: Colorrite says you're R158P, so boo to me.

Be sure to get yourself a rattle can of the base coat that goes along with that R158P Pure Red Pearl paint FlyGuy,otherwise your paintwork won't match.
That R158P paint needs that base coat to bring out the pearl finish in the paint.

I looked at getting some touch up paint down here in New Zealand. I went to the local auto paint guys who loked at the code and told me that the paint on my 2008 model was actually a waterbased lacquer and that I would not be able to repaint with a standard lacqure. Your bike not be the same but it might pay to find out before you buy paint that cannot be used. In my case, i will have to sand down the whole fairing and start from scratch.

Your red 1995 has faded. Fresh paint of any kind does not accournt for this. Red is what is called a fugitve color.

Some of the Japanese manufacturers used a waterbourne clearcoat. This included both cars and bikes. Once this clearcoat starts to degrade and peel, there is no cure other than complete removal and new paint, If anyoner thinks the Japanese are going to own up to this, good luck..

Agree with BB. Next to black, red is the worst colour for loosing its lustre over the years. A touch up of a red or black bike that is several years old will look like just that. A touch up. I think it is likely to look terrible. I had a black Jimmy that got a boo boo on a fender after it was about 12 years old. When the repaired fender was reipainted, the rest of the truck actually looked almost brown.

I gotta go drink now. I just realized I said I agreed with BB. oooooh Faaaaaack.......

Wurst is sort of pink. Whitwurst is a creamy white with flecks of green. Both are good with beer. For the not so feint of heart there is real Boudain encased in chitlin casing.

Where "lightfastness" of a pigment or dye is found is on tubes, jars , cans or buckets and even drums of paint. Black can be of several precursor pigments, but in auto paints the main pigment, is "lampblack" aka
"carbon black". There are several other "black" pigments including bone black and sepia that have a brown caste to begin with.

Many of the chemical pigments are fugitive. Some, kind of fool ya. Two that are bad are Pthalocyanine blues and greens.

There is one red that was developed for Ferraris that is not fugitive. Not a clue as to where any can be found or how long the baby would have to go barefoot to buy a quart.

What is colour? Is this the same color we talk about in the states? Does colour fade at the same rate as regular paint color? I'm interested in maybe changing my paint color to paint colour.

Do I need to order it from Canada to get the right type of paint don't cha know?

If you can't even get something as simple as a fuggen "eh" right, how the hell do you expect me to explain "colour", neighbour? That would simply be labourous with no real benefit.

I think the colour or color you are seeking is called "Redneck Red" . Canada has only one red. Easy to find.

This why I buy used bikes and respray them with easy to match automotive Industry colors. When my FZ1 ever needs painted I will do the same. Stock resto of metric bikes gets expensive fast. GM, Ford & Mopar paint is cheiper and faster to match. I have used ColorRite like Metallican said. If you MUST match a factory Honda Bike paint, it's the best bet. Just be prepaired to pay the price for it.
