Hi guys and gals. Got the side cover on today fixed the seat and the handles. Drove her home and there is nothing wrong sans the tach not working? Were going all the way back to original with her and then my neighbor wants to buy it. Forgot how easy this bike is to ride. IDK

Anyone know off hand why everything in the dash would work sans the tach? Is there a reset somewhere. Pretty sure it worked when I fired it up for the first time.

 

Check your signals and see whatcha come up with, dosen't look like something simply unplugged. You could allways disconnect the battery, touch the terminals together and re-connect to see if it resets the system too.

 

Ha! the Gen 6 VFR manual. Damn good place to start. I'll check the signal(s) and go from there. Thank you.

 

Think I found the tach issue in the form of a broken wire. Also I found the front frame piece that the upper cowl mounts to took a hit. I bent it back but I'm wondering if I should go ahead and replace it.?

The other thing I did Saturday was DEMO a 2010 VFR1200. I Gotcha say I really like how it handles and drives compared to my 800. Told them the story of the theft and they said they would still take my 800 on trade. 10,995.00 was the asking. Tempted.

 

If it bent back without deforming or showing signs of a crease I'd re-spray it flat black and call it a day. Everything still lines up nicely yes??

 

Couple of updates. I fixed the wiring harness that took a hit and broke a couple of wires. I had a hard time digging the wire connector out of the molex clip until my wife looked at it and said it looks like the connector had a hinge on it :\ So the tach signal is fixed. I spent some time bending/reshaping the front frame and acquired the $75.00 with of plastic clips and screws needed to put her it back together. I need to get the fairings re-sprayed but I want to put it all together to make sure everything lines up correctly first. Then take it all back apart and prep it for painting. Hopefully Spring it will be ready again.

Still drives like it did when I purchased her so I'm keeping it for now. Ordered a Corbin seat to replace the broken stock seat. What's next?
