Hi All, I've just fitted a set of SW-Motech lowered (50mm) pegs to my 1200DCT, they're a nice bit of kit and well made etc... my problem now is the rear brake lever, there is only a small amount of adjustment available to lower the lever, ~20mm or so. I now find the rear brake lever is too high to be comfortable to use. Is there an alternate brake lever available for lowered pegs?? Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated. Cheers, Smithy.
Can't help there not sure why you would want to lower foot pegs anyways to me then they would just drag in the corners more taking away from the sport side of the ride. Would a proper kit would have thought of that item as well and sold the break lever link or arm matching the foot pegs. Kinda wondering why SW didn't make a new break link lever.
I installed the same pegs on my bike, and I really like them. As I,m getting older, the knees get sore. I find the extra inch has really helped on longer rides. You don't really lose any clearance, as these pegs don't have the 1 inch feeler bolt the stock ones have. I did learn to keep the balls off my feet on the pegs through the curves, as it is easier to drag a shoe. As far as the back break issue, i,m used to it now.It actually gives me better leverage (the rare ocassion i use it)
Yeah I like mine too, but mine are 50mm (~2 inches) lower, not just the 1 inch yours have, so the brake lever is a fair bit too high now. As to ground clearance, as dublflush writes, they don't have the "feelers" or "hero knobs" which saves a good inch of clearance anyway. I hardly drag them on the ground much anyway, mostly my boots hit first going around "roundabouts".....scares the crap out of me when I'm not expecting it sometimes..!! Cheers, Smithy.
