    Hi all!!!
So winter is creeping up on us again and I'm looking to add a little more heat to the hands!!! I already have the heated grip solution installed (Moose Racing elements, two stage), and they work well. Only issue is that the wind from the travel still gets cold enough to chlll some of the hande, especially the thumb. Soooooo...I was thinking about using some of those handlebar mits (I know, sucky fashion statement), or trying to find something like the Barkbuster wind deflectors. There is a guy at the service department who has an SV650 with those bar mits, he swears by them as his bike is his only transportation year round. The look goofy...but function over form is what I'm after. What are you thoughts? Any suggestions?

I saw a guy with them on a 5th gen, they do look pretty goofy but I imagine his hands are nice and toasty and he dosen't really need really thick bulky gloves like what I wear. My only real concern with them is how hard it is to remove and replace your hands in them.

I agree they are goofy looking.

When i was riding home from Deals gap in the beginning of this month I rode through a town in Lower NY State and it was snowing....and boy did I ever wish I had a pair of those.

Definitely goofy looking, but I think brush guards on a sport bike would look a good deal worse, plus the mitts are easier to remove when you don't need them. I'll probably pick up a pair myself sometime soon.

Personally I wouldn't care if they look goofy. There on the bike to do a job, and if they do it well, that's what matters. Being cold on a bike is not a good thing; it takes your attention off the road as you sit there thinking "...my hands are freezing, my feet are freezing, ...".

Have you considered heated gloves? I can't comment on the battery powered ones, but for the ones that get wired to your bike, they are toasty!!

    My solution:

I've got myself an LSL superbike kit with t's highest possible handlebar, mounted heated grips & wind protectors & deflectors. Still, at near 0 deg Celsius, I still can't go over 100mph with just summer gloves.

Good morning everyone, I do ride in the winter with "hippo hands" and they work really well, I always carry them with me. I really don't care how they look, or for that matter how I look :)

    They are also inexpensive.

    Hope you find this useful,

    CElias

I used to use hippo hands made by the genius Craig Vetter back in dah day. These were used on bikes that had traditional handle bars. The mirror stalk would poke out thru the naugahide and you would stick your hand in there to operate the controls. Kinda like a pocket pussy, but not...:stripper:

Sport bikes have a closer clearance issue so a muff dont really work. I used to wear Widder heated gloves along with their vest and stayed toasty during 30+ degree riding up north. No more of that shit though. Them hippo hands are tough, they protected the bike a few times during some winter skids ; )

To skip writing again I will put here the answer I gave to a inquiry received via PM:
I live in Europe and I got these two combined:
HANDSCHALEN MIT BLINKER - Louis - Motorrad & Freizeit
SPOILER FUER ACERBIS - Louis - Motorrad & Freizeit
These two are placed on a combination of LSLĀ® Superbike Kit (louis item code 10021361) and a high & long handlebar (10021605). On stock handlebars you can not fit the hand/wind protectors, you need to fit shorter levers and even so the fitting is quite tricky. Now I lost the ability to turn the wheel from lock to lock by near 2mm. But then again, how many times do you need lock to lock wheel turning?! Now my riding position is great, my hands are free and nicely relaxed (and during cold weather protected) which makes long trips really enjoyable.
Probably there are other, more cheaper maybe, solutions for this which worth searching in your area since European market is quite expensive in comparison with US for example.

The screen is a MRA touring specific for VFRs 2002+ which is good for speeds lower than just about 60mph but creates quite some turbulence on high speed if not put in lower positions.

    All the best!
