Speedometer going crazy

    As I crusing on the hi way my gage showing 80 mph and suddenly it is showing I am doing 5 mph.........WTH, I pull into the parking lot and shut off the engine and restart take a spin and the gage still showing I am doing 0 mile per hour. I am thinking my speed sensor is out. What is your thought...?:crazy::crazy: Any input is greatly appreciated

    Check the coupler to the speed sensor, mine backed off once before and did the same thing.

    Just remove the speed sensor and check the coupler and that it is mated to the ootput shaft bolt. Hooker. Picture shmicture.

    The speed sensor is bolted directly over the front sprocket on the sprocket cover The coupler is a white plastic nut looking thing that actually sits on the bolt head of the bolt that bolts the front sprocket on. Mine got worn out and started setting FI light to come on. Yours may have broken completely. You can unbolt the sensor and, key on, spin the sensor end shaft by hand and it should show up on the speedometer. Other then the coupler it could be a bad sensor, bad wire -I think there are three from the sensor to the gauges, or a bad gauge (unlikely) Hope this helps!
