Sorry to be so slow on the ride report but I have not spent much time at home lately and had a "few" things I needed to tend to. I am going to break this up a bit so it is not a novel and maybe if things are not spilled oot into a million words it may be easier to reference later. I guess I will start with the "good".

    "The good"

I think the most important part of this little project is that it truly was everything that Dan promised, not a single disappointment in the performance of the bike. It really does run as good if not better that a stock bike with one small glitch that is very difficult to notice and I will address that in the "bad" section......it is going to be a small part of the report. It was a very simple install with the highest of quality and the little bit I needed was met with fantastic support.

The bike runs flawlessly and still gets 40mpg at 75mph cruising speeds (201 miles with a 5 gallon top off for easy math).Marrib and I ran several tanks oot together at 90+ and got very similar mileage. It has a cool gear whine to it as well. It is VERY user friendly as long as you do not rip it open past aboot 9000rpm in the first three gears and as I got used to it over the last 5000 miles I have come to expect the arm stretching power and LIKE IT! The power is awesome and I could not go back to a stocker withoot a bit of time passing between. Wheelies abound at will and the performance of the bike in the twisties is only affected by this as it does want to skid the front tire if your not careful when the RPM's are above 8500-9000k. Smoking 750-1000cc bikes like a fat blunt is not an issue so much as just trying to stay in control until 4th gear when you can really pull on it. Even at the price this is a very good deal as I have spent way more for far less in the past.......and no Dan did not give me a discount nor is he paying me........but that fucker could give me a free T-shirt.......just saying........I did donate a finger after all.

    "The bad"

The "bad" is really not that bad but I will bring up what I have noticed and will update if or as things progress. The fuel mileage can be mind bendingly poor if you choose to be an ass clown and that is unavoidable for the first 500 miles after installing this kit. Curiosity will get the best of you and it did me. I have smoked a tank @96 miles and aboot crapped myself as I was thinking touring was never to be an option again but as long as your not ham fisted the bike will still go 230 miles between stops.......granted on vapors. It does run noticeably hotter but even in 100+ ambient it does fine and is still a damn site cooler that the gen 5's I rode with. I rode with many gen 6's lately and in general I run a bit cooler with the Water Wetter set up.....just a few degrees on average in normal riding conditions but as RPM's pick up in cruising conditions my bike does run noticeably hotter but not to a detriment. Gen 6 temp gauge is very easy to read on another bike and at 100+mph my bike is 195 degrees where a stocker will be at 180 degrees in 85-90 ambient. Not big deal but worth mentioning.
The thing that I have noticed is that on flat roads or roads with a very slight down grade that the bike has a very small jump to it......hard to describe but I think it is the manifold pop off valve opening and closing under an almost no load condition that only occurs during slight boost and almost no throttle opening. Really only noticeable around 8500 rpm's...........almost not worth the mention it is sooooo slight but I did notice it on a few occasions.

    "Things to consider"

Not the good nor the bad.........just things to consider. The stock clutch is not up to the task. I replaced the stock clutch with a stock clutch at the time of install and it will slip in low ambient temp's and have ordered a Barnett clutch that I will install next weekend. Which brings up ambient temps.......the bike is a slave to ambient temps and it loves them low. The power is HUGE in 40-75 ambient. It is still crazy up to aboot 90ish but it drops off noticeably at that point but is still stupid as far as power goes. Just the dense air I am sure but no two ways around that it loves cool air. The VTR fan blade is a good mod and a must for this and the only thing to consider is fan spacing and that it can suck things up into it. I sucked up a small rock in Portland and it caused the fan to get stuck and the bike warmed to 230 degrees in rush hour traffic. First gear is a bit of a bitch and I am still coming to terms with it......more me than the bike as it is getting better but it is a VERY fine line. I did think for just a bit that this was too much but I have gotten used to it and could not go back. This thing is just a tad bit cooler than sliced bread.

    You are a rockstar.

Any thoughts about changing sprocket size to see if 1st becomes more manageable? A chance you could end up with even better mileage at highway speeds.

No not really, first is sooo tall as it is that slow traffic and parking lot maneuvering is already difficult enough.

Trying to grab the attention again Tink? Getting kinda pitiful don't you think? Just go back to you paperweight project, basket-case thread...
