I got my first interceptor home late last night. Its a 1986 VFR 700 with 750 plastics, in average shape with almost 32k miles. It needs a good cleaning and waxing but I look forward going through it and bring back some of its former glory. I snapped a few quick picture and will have some more later today when I get a chance to move it into better light.

There are a few things I am looking to change right away so let me know if you have some of these parts I am looking for or want any of the stuff I am getting ride of.

First off I hate the tank bra shoot me an offer if you are interested in it.

Next I don't like the aftermarket windshield. There is nothing wrong with it its just that I don't like the way it flows with the lines of the bikes. I would be interested in a straight trade for a good condition stock wind shield.

I have the rear seat cover but I am missing the pad for the rear seat cover so if you happen to have a spare pad let me know how much.

I would like to trade the Yoshimura 4-2-1 pipe for some stock exhaust. I would be looking for stock exhaust + cash on your end. I would be willing to do a straight trade if the stock exhaust is in show room condition. I was also wondering if the bike would have been rejetted for the Yoshimura exhaust and if I would need to revert back to stock jets with the stock exhaust.

I am looking for a centerstand as well.

I would think that if you want a stock exhaust maybe a straight up trade would be a better deal.... anyway...welcome to the world have fun with the 700...I do...

Good luck finding a centrestand. They are hard to find for that generation.

Also, I'd keep the exhaust. Stock pipes are extreamly quiet and no fun at all.

True.....If i had to chose between the 2 though (and the Yosh was already on the bike) I'd pick the Yosh.

But I agree that the centrestand is extremely handy and I love it on my 4th gen. (and missed it on my 1st gen)

The Yosh is too loud for me.

I also need a lower body stay if anyone has one.

What is the opinion on air filters for these bikes? I just opened the air box and it is an old dirty broken foam aftermarket filter. Just wondering if I should get a stock air filter, K&N, or something else.

I know for my cbr K&N was worse then stock.

The K&N is the most popular, I'm kinda surprised your cbr was 'worse' with a K&N filter. They do flow more air than most stock filters, and may require rejetting to work best.

I'm curious, is there a brand name on that windscreen?

I can not see any brand name on the windscreen. If you are really interested I could take it off and see if there is one in some sport that I can't see. It seems good quality and sturdy.

Is there an easy way to see if my bike was rejetted or do the carbs need to be pulled? What is the stock jet size? What jets should I run with a k&n filter and with the Yosh. How about with k&n and stock pipes, and if going back to all stock should I use stock size or something a little bigger?

As far as the k&n goes on my F3 CBR I noticed zero difference with it on, but I also had stock jets. I guess "worse" was the wrong word, but not worth the extra $$.

    Congrats.
You'll have to crack those carbs open to see if they rejetted for the yosh and the K&N. I don't see a huge potential difference between the air flow of a stock paper filter and a K&N, they look like they have about the same amount of filter surface area, the K&N might allow some more flow.

Most people that swap out pipes are too lazy to rejet or shim the needle, so you will probably be OK, but that's what you would want to check for. I forgot off the top of my head what size jets were used for the pilot and main jets, I am sure someone on here would know for reference.

P.S.- if the PO drilled any holes in the airbox you will definitely have to rejet if it hasn't been done already, or find an unmolested one.
