The only real limit is available time.

I took one of mine on a 3500 mile trip a week or two after I got it.

I have a 2002 ABS with bags for sale if that might interest you.

The longest trip that I have taken on my VFR was from Nellis AFB (Las Vegas, NV) to Hill AFB (Odgen, UT). If I remember right it was about 430-450 miles. My ankles and wrists got sore, not as much as my butt though. I'd definately invest in a more cushy seat if you're planning on doing long distance rides. I'll get one eventually, but I want to finish my fork swap first. Perhaps next winter. Anyway all I had for luggage was a big backpack, and a really nice tankbag. It was all freeway, and kinda boring. My ideal rides are about 2 hours in length; with some nice scenery involved, on roads that have a good combination of curves, and straights.

last year I took a 4 day trip to northhern spain. 2500 km in 4 days.
first day was 900 km (last 60 in tight mountain roads, a blast that forgot previous 850 km...)
I regularly do 300 km rides without any problems.
700 km daily rides are also very doable.
the problem is wen you try to make several days of more than 500 km. That can kill you in 3/4 days. That, as you might expect depends on a lot of variables as :
    weather
    traffic & roads used
    food, drink and sleep conditions

as an advice, stop every gas tank (300 km), avoid cafein, use ear buds, create and maintain a steady pace, slip well, plan journey (HW at night can eat up distances), avoid major cities.

    WARNING!!! Long Post

The first day I owned my VFR I put 840 miles on it in 16 hours on a trip from San Francisco-Seattle. During those 16 hours you have a lot of time to think, The thought that kept going through my mind was how much more comfortable I was on this VFR than I was on my Road King, and that's before I got the Sargent.

Now for a little fun and my idea of a VFRworld road trip, During the next two or three years I'll be making a VFR run to Missouri because my relatives have been laying the guilt trip on me for never visiting, if I'm that close to Tennessee I must make a road trip to the Tail of the Dragon, maybe V-Man or that funny crazy man Ferris could give me a quick tour since that's their backyard.

Then it would be a Pit Stop in Ohio to Mello Dudes house where he could educate me on 5g maintenance where I don't have to keep paying everybody for my VFR work.

Since I always wanted to see Yankee stadium I would be off to Freewheelburner little country Oasis, after a day of partying and most likely LMAO, I would be making my journey down the east coast with a stop over in Virginia to show VaRollon how to take that off that Sargent seat and do a little drinking  after I'm done drinking Rich under the table I would have to get a Motel for the night because his kids wake up in all hours of the night and RW needs his sleep.

Now it's off to N. Carolina for a visit with SFCA and his two lovely ladies, after thanking him for all his service to our country it would be off to Bama to check out Legs new 5g, it's no telling what could happen during my two days in Bama with Legs, it would either be the time of my life or end up going to the big house for a while

Now I better start making my way west bound again and the next stop would be Louisiana and the great city of New Orleans with Danimal as my tour guide, I just love that city and state with it's distinctive food and the spirit of the people.

Next stop Arizona! After rounding up the two superheros ZonaMan and Desertman, I would like to see where Arizonians ride except for the desert. Because I've only seen Interstate 10 & 40

Next stop San Luis Obispo! Where all of those gorgeous picture have come from, now it's time to show Reg how to really ride, but don't worry Scratch, I'll take it easy on your old man because I would fear for your safety if he tried to keep up, but before I left town it would be a stop over at Tori's to see who the real champ of MotoGp is.

After railing Hwy. 1 all the way to San Francisco it would be off to Spikes house because he gave me a lot of idea's on all my Mods. , plus I think it would be fun to have some sort of debate with him because I think he would give me all I wanted. (LOL)

Now I'm on the way home but one last stop in Keizer OR to WVFR house for one last day of railing and to thank him for talking me into the PClll, what a difference that Mod has made.

Sorry for the long post but the wife is working on a Washington rainy day and I have way to much time on my hands.

I am actually planning on doing a trip like that sometime. I'm gonna call it the VFRWorld Tour v1. I'm gonna try to meet members along the way to bum a place to crash so I'm not camping every night. I'm hoping to get my son involved if he decides he likes riding and kind of do a Zen And the Art... kind of thing. Who knows. I have always wanted to do something like that, and I think the VFr may be the bike to try it on.

I've done a few short trips on my VFR - a week or so at the most. Managed 5to 7 hour days no problem. Very comfortable machine. Hard bags are the way to go.
This summer I'm jumping from "rookie touring" to full-on-touring. I'm taking the entire month of July to travel south (which is everyone else's "north") and into the midwestern/eastern States. Possibly then across to northern Oregan and then back up to northern Canada. I let you know when I'm finished how the ride went! LOL! I am sooooooooo looking forward to it!!!!!

The longest distance i have spent in the saddle of my viffer was 290 km without stopping. I went on holiday last year and found it to be comfy to ride distances about 150-200 km before stopping for a break
In one day i rode 780 kilometers in total. That was near my limit.
In total i travelled about 9000 km that vacation.

    Hey RW
Come on down, we'll hit the quarter drink some Hurricanes at Pat O's. we'll visit some plantation homes on the twisty ole river road. only drawback to South Louisiana is everything is flat. If you want to see how fast your viffer will go we got a road out here that is a good 15 miles staight divided four lane. when you leavin? we can ride 365 here as well so time of year doesn't matter Mardi gras is good. In the summertime, Hell is cooler. I still ride tho every chance i get. A bad day on the Girl is better than the best day of just watchin her. Sometimes I go out and just give her a hug cause she needs it.

RW-- I love your style incorportating the PEEPS into your trek.

You can hold my beer while I smash :smash: the seat back on, hasn't been back off by the way.

We have a full apartment downstairs(can't hear crazy kids:hurt:) if you or any of the other crazy VFR's are near DC, it really is a beautiful city if you duck:laser: or just yell"is that a bag of weed on the ground?" and run like hell:car:

The original Honda VFR hardbags off course...

No topcase makes the bike too big.

My two longest days occurred on the same trip last summer. On the first day, I left my house at 6am, rode twisty roads through pa all day long until I stopped at my campsite in the catskill mountains of ny at 7pm. It was a long 600 miles, but what a blast!

Three days later I was coming home from the white mountains of NH and had to make time so I slabbed it. 600 miles at supersonic speeds can also be fun, but I prefer the twisties.

I was pretty sore after both of these long hauls, but would rather be able to hit the curves hard on a vfr then be comfortable on the highway on a larger bike. The hard bags are awesome. Well worth the investment. I would like to upgrade my seat some day.

my first IB run was on my 04 VFR. Rode 1075 on a Thursday, spent friday and saturday hanging out with a bud, then rode the same route back home. It really wasn't that bad, just keep moving around on the bike. Stretching and whatnot.

I really think this might be doable. Since you're saying in the next 2-3 yrs. I'd like to give it a shot myself. At least the part out to MO and back. I would think if we arrange it right you and I could meet up somewhere between us and start heading east. We could add any other members who want to go that could work in the schedule. My work is pretty flexible if I get my requests in early enough. I was just telling my wife tonight that I really want to start taking at least one big trip on the bike every year, then when I retire, I plan on taking many more. We should start roughing out a plan to flesh out as the months go by.

Hey - anyone know if there is a place that does Motorcycle rentals so I can get a VFR in New Mexico while on vacation. I am planning a vacation and I want to visit some friends in New Mexico. I want to ride from Rio Rancheros, New Mexico to Las Vegas, NV. I would love to have a VFR or a metric Sport Tourer. If that is not possible I would go for a GoldWing.
