China body panels

I bet most of you already know this but just in case someone is wondering how good Lees Fairings are from China I can tell you they are garbage. Might be fine if you are in to stunt bikes and they get trashed in no time anyway but I am guessing not too many VFR owners are using them for stunt.

They came broken, poorly painted and just plain don't fit. I don't mean poorly painted as in texture, I mean they are not even fully painted. There are spots missed. one of my worst purchases I have made.

I did a lot of humming and haing before I bought them but someone had posted on a board that they used them and where satisfied so I pulled the trigger. My recommondation is don't waste the money even if your just trying to make it look better to sell.

 

Do you have any pics? I saw these a while back and was skeptical and just want to see how bad you are talking. Sounds like they are just awful and you could have saved me a bunch of $$$. I was looking for an extra set for a track day or something like that, but if they are that poor, sounds like the wrong direction to go...

That sucks, file a claim with ebay and Paypal if that was the method of purchase. Significant enough damage and poor fitment should get you an easy win with paypal.

 

That is terrible at best. Good luck with Pay Pal, you should get your money back withoot any hassle.

From China, naturally it's crap !! That's what Chinese products are, cheap and trashy and exceedingly likely to break.

You were expecting a quality product for the lowest possible price ?????

 

Most of the stuff I get from WalMart works just fine and they get all their stuff from China.

Good to know though that these are not first rate items, save us some pain and sufferin'.

and most of all not entirely accurate. Is there a lot of poorly made stuff that comes out of China, of course, but that doesn't mean everything that comes from there is.

 

I wasn't expecting OEM quality but I was expecting them to fit and not be broke. I haven't worked in an ABS facility but I would think to copy a panel over to a mold and then inject plastic into it shouldn't be that hard.

Not all stuff made in China is garbage, just the stuff that doesn't have a major manufactures oversight seems to be. All your apple modile devices are made there and most would agree that thier build quality is top notch.

 

I bought right from the manufacture so no Ebay or PayPal to back too. When I did open the box and notice the quality I did contact them and was given a 100.00 refund. But now that I am actually putting the stuff on I wish I would have cut my losses and returned it.

 

Enough with the generalizations.

Wow this generalized slamming of stuff from China is really getting a little old. Stemo76, I'm really sorry you had a bad experience, but that isn't necessarily typical. How many of you guys badmouthing Chinese products have looked at the back of your iPhones? Regardless, on the Hayabusa forum, wave rotors were tested by a metallurgist in Europe recently and found to be every bit as good as the name brand products.
I personally have installed Chinese brake levers on all my bikes and done a very detailed comparison to Pazzos and they are for ALL purposes identical.
Finally, fairings, like everything else, they have been getting better and better every year. The new ABS ones are pretty close to perfect. I bought a set of fiberglass Airtechs for my VFR750 and they sucked so bad that I eventually gave up and fixed up the OEM ones (And Airtech is a US company). My next bike came with Chinese PVC ones and they fit much better than the Airtechs and not quite as good as OEM but the bike looked good. About a year ago I bought partial sets of ABS fairings for both my Busa and my Blackbird and they fit well, the finish was good from any distance but slightly rough to the touch. A few months ago I dropped the Busa and decided to get a complete new set. I was blown away by what I got. Every piece fit perfectly and the finish was perfect. The set even included a tank cover.

I just bought a VTR1000F to keep my VFR800, CBR1100xx and Busa company and didn't hesitate for a second to order fairings from China.

Really and truly, stop propagating rumors if you don't have first hand experience of current products, the new stuff is virtually identical to OEM in fit and appearance at a significantly better price.

so how did you find them then?

 

Not as easy as they make it sound. First, I have bought a ton of stuff off Ebay, almost all without a problem. However when I did have a problem once with a DVD being an obvious counterfit, PayPal said I had to go thru EBay. EBay contacted the seller, who agreed to refund my $$ if I would send the DVD back. But I had to pay for shipping. I thought that was ridiculous, EBay and PayPal thought it was perfectly reasonable. That I ship an illegal product thru the mail, itself illegal, pay for it to come to me, and pay to send it back.

 

I got my fairing set from Hong Kong last year. They fucking suck Chinese donkey balls. The color was wrong (more like tomato soup than Italian Red), the paint was bad and there was damage to the finish on some parts and they were very thin. In places where OEM plastics were 3mm thick, these were 2mm or less. In short, the fairings were junk. I squabbled with the seller on eBay and I got no where.

I still have them if anyone wants them I will sell them for what I paid for them. Fair deal? Nah, I wouldn't do that to anyone. They are stashed up in my attic. Broken and rashed fairings look better than these things.

 

Those China parts are probably leaking cancer-causing crap all over you, too... bahahahaha!

 

most of their products are junk and we are making them the richest country in the world by buying the crap because it's cheaper. smarten up people don't by it anymore, they are laughing all the way to the bank. but i do like their food.

 

More generalizations... if they become the richest country in the world then it's because they have learned to compete in the world free market economy and are not running up debt at an insane rate. So what if we buy from them, haven't they been buying billions of dollars worth of stuff on the US? In fact, if you do a little research you will see that the amount that the US exports to China as a percentage of what it imports has gone up by almost 10% in the last decade but you don't hear the Chinese bitching that they don't want this "American crap" instead they work out a way to survive in this economy, they don't just sit and whine about it. I read recently that the number of people in the United States below the poverty line is about to eclipse that of China but it seems to me that their average man in the street is trying everything he can to make a dollar while on this side it seems like a larger and larger number of people are living on taxpayer's money, which do you prefer?

Sorry I guess you must be paying more attention than me, I didn't realize we americans made and sold crap. But you are probably right I'd be mad as hell if northrop sold me an F22 raptor what a piece of junk huh? Granted a few things might have needed a quick fix here and there but they were well made and didn't fall apart. 90% of the products I have purchased from them has, it is CHEAPLY made and slapped together they must be counting on the extra lead in their paint to hold it together. I know it bind's kid's up if they put toys in their mouth too much. And at the exspense of their people and environment. The way I see it is they would be speaking japanese right now if the US didn't help them out the least they can do is not poison our kids. And if you have time read this The World But I still like the food
