Hello; New to the forum and this is a totally newb question ....but what type of engine oil would be the best for my 1985 VF1000? It has 75000 kms on it. Thanks
My thoughts exactly spike. Not to rain on your parade Tom, but there are tons of oil threads on the forum. Use the search function and look through em. Its kind of a useless topic though as all people can agree on is to use a good quality oil of some sort and change it frequently.
sorry tom, Davis5g is 100% right on this one. nobody here on this forum will be sarcastic toward a legit question like this, but this is what is widely considered a "pandora's box" type thread on MANY forums. anything that involves oil, oil filters, tires, headlight bulbs, or really ANY general opinion question tends to take a life of its own. everybody has their own opinions, and everybody has had their own experience. the best thing ANYBODY can tell you is to do what makes you the most comfortable in the end.
what type of soap should I use to wash the plastic? Welcome to the forum - how about some pictures of your new ride?
crisco is not the answer come on reggie..... everybody knows that crisco turns to a big ball of yuck when it freezes... Tom is in Canada.... use one can of Slick50 and top off with olive oil..... use what is recommended 10W40 is a good place to start... brand name .. what ever you want just don't use car oil.. it will screw up you clutch plates.... because of the additives in it. Ask your local motorcycle shop what brand they would recommend.. and you should be good to go.... Welcome to the world...
I was always told that if you do all of your riding in miles, then use brand X, but if your ridng is done in Km, then use brand A. Was I sold a bill of goods?
