Must have been nearly as dissapointed as I felt after spying single carbies on standard manifolds whilst peering inside the gutted Roots housings of some of the Mad Max 3 vehicles at the '85 Sydney motor show.

We can forgive the movie folk some. The early theatre and VHS US version of MM was dubbed since I am apparantly not the only one who thinks Y'all talk funny.. ;) So really TC says instead of oot, owt.

Did a thing for a guy who got really creamed in a motorcycle smashup in 1999. We got Peter Fonda to show up and help raise some big pesos. Part of the gig was a poker run. Fonda was to ride.. He wanted to ride a little BMW thumper. We got him a Harley.. We borrowed a "Captain America" replica for some photo shoots. It had a belt drive..

Probabably old GMC 671's from semis in MM..

Alice now re-enters the rabbit hole..

Was amused at the time by MMs name change to Road Warrior and its dubbing seeing how Aussie English is so clear and accent neutral. Well at least it was to me right up to '99 when after spending 5 weeks working in Atlanta then Chicago and not hearing another Aussie voice until joining the long Qantas queue in LAX to go home.

On a personal level find the more I look at it the more I like it, have never been much interested in a HD or even Buell but could see myself riding the Motus STR one day once proven reliable and successful in the market place.

You can thank King George for those Atlanta accents..but not for Peachtree Street. Was there a row when the folks in OZ found out Mel Gibson was a Yank?

Not at all, after Mad Max we claimed him 100% for ourselves but after his last arrest we are glad he's 100% yours.

Well, you know what it says on that big statue the French tried to buy us off with.. You know, the one that gets whacked in every other sci-fi flick of late.

Yeah, it's growing on me... We'll see when/if it hits production; though like everyone is saying, if it's $20K+ in it's normal trim (not the R), that's ridiculous, for that bike, even given the new, cool layout and such. But, it wouldn't surprise me; given that one of the partner's is from Confederate, and low volume, boutique building is there thing. I'm sure Motus wouldn't mind becoming a huge success, but early on, if they even get there, I think they're gonna want people to pay thru the nose...

The marketing pundits have suggested that first-year Motus bikes will likely be in the $35K range, with pricing getting more reasonable over time. With the technology and exclusivity in the first year machines, that might actually work. I wouldn't spend $35K for anything with wheels; but they have to start somewhere, and I'm not their target customer. Getting into the mainstream won't happen for a few years - if indeed it happens at all; but the bike has merits.

And yeah, I like the looks. And the sound. And the idea of a 450lb sport touring bike with 150+ hp. You squidboyz on yer crotch rockets LOOKOUT! Ya just been spanked by a geezer on a touring bike (as if I haven't done *that* before). ;D

Probably the price. If 25k is an indicator for starters, we may see more Harleydoods coming out of the closet and buying real motorcycles. ;)

I wonder, since the engine seems to be a derivative of an auto engine, the buyers will be able to buy farkles at a Caddie dealership?

Not so far fetched as one might think. I buy bitsas for my old Beemer at the auto dealer for far less than the MC stealership charges. Same thing for some things at the Honda auto dealer.

Nothing really, but, there also seems to be nothing all that great about it either. Maybe if they survive long enough to get some bikes out there where some people can ride them that may generate some buzz, but they have picked a really tough time. Im sure they have done their market research and have come up with the idea that there is a large enough niche for them, provided all sorts of bad things dont happen to the early models. If they show up at Indy maybe I'll be able to get close enough to talk to whomever they decide to man their tent long enough to ask them some questions. I bet my riding buddy with the Tuono would be interested.

The bare is pissed because the Motus folk and some older dudes crowded him out at Laguna. Shame on them for not recognizing his enemence Same dudes are gonna be at Indy and Indiana probably has way more old dudes than Cali.. Will he like the bike twice as less? Stay tuned for further sermons.

Like a MotoGuzzi 500cc V8 GP Dustbin and that other Italian V8 that came with its own crate to ship it back to Italy for service.

So if the dudes at Boss Hog would put those Chevvys in right would everyone who is dissing the Motus buy one? Just sitting on one and making vroom-vroom noises must be a lot of fun until any friends see you.
