I do not want to turn this thread into a Political debate, but I have never heard of a worker
getting $60.00 per hour. Even my friend who was a welder at Chevron only got $22.00 per hour after 16 years.

Sixty bucks an hour at the low end is what you get took for at Honda dealers and we know they ain't union. Maybe if they were, the wrenches would be taking home double the minimum wage some of them are making now.

Is it true that the "Rhinestone HD" was Stoshmonster's first custom?

The families that own the dealerships can charge any thing they want.

Most motorcycle mechanics quit and work on cars where they can earn 3 times as much. They see their friends working on HONDA cars for much higher pay and jump ship the first year.

The guy that owns this bike designed the "Rhinestone HD".
Judging by the O&B paint scheme he's just gotta be a closet HD lover. :tongue2:

Don't worry about it. I expose myself all the time...sometimes even to the cheap and poor.

I think the idea is that you lament poor quality, but then scoff at paying for a high quality piece. Not that you dissed the quality of the piece here. If you want quality, you can't focus on price. If you want an artisan to make stuff for you, you have to be willing to pay a person to put in that time and effort.

No one here is telling anyone else that they need to buy anything else. You read it that way.
A kid who works all summer for insurance probly shouldn't have bought the bike.
If they think they need the carbon and aluminum then they are wrong and had a flaw in their upbringing.
They should just ride and have fun.
People buying stuff they want doesn't kill the fun. People who are bitter and miserable kill the fun of those who stay around them too long, instead of hanging out with with those that would make them laugh and smile - no matter what they rode.

Bought my first bike, a Honda 450 Nighthawk for like $450 and rode the snot out of it. It had no bling on it - none. Wore a smile on my face nearly every mile I had it. But my finances are different today then they were then.

Who decides how much is too much? You? the guy who makes 3/4 of what you do? The guy who makes half? The guy/gal who makes 20 times what you do? Who do you want to make the decision? You are saying you should be the one who decides for all of us? Why?
What is wrong with the way it is, the price is essentially determined by the maker and the buyer.

I mean if you really advocate limiting the amount people spend and what they choose to spend it on; then you are advocating a basically a communist economy, and we live in a country that is supposedly built on a capitalist economy style.

Once again you just come across as someone who is just bitter and angry at the world. And no fun to be around. I would rather ride with someone who has a bike worth twice as much as mine, and who enjoys the ride or someone on a POS cheap bike that also enjoys the ride - then someone who looks at my bike and begrudges me every penny I have on my bike. That would kill the fun for me.

Guess nobody works in CNC here because it does take time its not just click and done. There is quite a bit to setting up a machine. To top it Material costs are way up right now. Then if you own that machine there is the cost of setting that part up to run a small batch of motorcycle costs to set up or I could run So said widget for Manufacture X and have a steady income for the next two weeks.

I think the steady income often wins for these CNC guys which is why most motorcycle parts get pushed up in cost. Because like it or not CNC didn't fix everything with Machine times. Just means we can increase the complexity of the parts and in turn increase the Machine time it takes to produce one part.

    There is:

    GOOD,
    FAST,
    CHEAP

Pick two. That is all you get in life, once in a while you will get all three but it comes along like getting two dollar whores on Christmas Sunday.

Donald AND Spike both make good points.

One thing to remember Donald is when many of you older folks started to ride you could find a starter bike to ride on fairly cheap. Or you got a basket case and with a little teenage ingenuity got it together and rode. Many of todays kids are sucking off the teet of parents disposable income in some form or fashion even if they work themselves. Peer pressure is powerful and nobody wants a Ninja 250 when they can get a modern 600 or worse and smoke everything their freinds own in a straight line.

Times have changed...but every once in a while you'll meet some young kid riding for the love of it on some old beater smiling every mile they click off.

My take is that a 1500 dollar exhaust or a 500 dollar boutique footpegs will not change my motorcycle experience one iota. I don't spend a lot on aesthetics, just not in the budget. I would rather not have to work that hard for a place to rest my feet.

It is interesting to see the effort (mainly the adaptor plates) that make them adaptable to a variety of machines. I bet they could be made minimalistic while being stronger and maybe lighter if made specifically for one model and made from high tensile steel.
