Glad your OK Chick. You definitely kept your wits about you. Well done!

    **********

While Badbilly may not have the softest way with words, you can't argue his point about texting on a bike (or entering an address in a GPS). Its just not a wise thing to do for ANY of us.

Once you put your big girl panties on and don't take the Internet so seriously, you find Billy is funny as hell.

And when he's not, just ignore the post and move on. Big deal.

Can't believe you kept that on two wheels Karen. Heal quickly!

I just ordered a Badbilly t-shirt. Will I be excommunicated?

And, Karen, you need a new name. I think "Super Chick" fits.

There's a difference between giving constructive criticism and just being a dickhead; regardless of the message. True, texting at speed is probably not a good idea but if you want to be taken for more than just an :asshat: find a better way of expressing yourself. If you don't have anything good to say...

Chicky, sorry to hear the bruising's getting worse. Hope you feel better soon!

    2 points to make here...

first off, im not one to be the devils advocate, but billy does have a valid point, albeit a really dry, abrasive way of saying it. texting while driving a cage is bad enough but riding a bike takes all of your attention and concentration. texting while riding a bike is literally just asking for trouble. I'm really glad to hear that texting wasnt involved in this incident.

second, chicky, im glad you're ok. it takes one tough MF to get sideswiped, and not only walk, but RIDE away from the scene in relatively one piece. it just totally sucks that you werent able to make the GP race. that would've been a fun way to make up for the lane changing douche that didnt watch where the hell he was going.

keep us posted with progress on the leg and bike repairs! ;)

WTF are "big girl panties" ? Some new ATGATT thing? They sound very sexist if they are just for the chicas and not some of the dudes. I figure I could maybe buy a few pair and make package deals with my BB
T-shirts which BTW, are universally sized for all three genders and even some that have not yet been invented.

I completely agree that texting while in or on any moving vehicle is not the smartest thing anyone can do. I'm not justifying it, but literally, I would hit one letter, look up for a while, hit another, etc. My focus was on the phone for a second at a time and there was no traffic around me. Once I connected with the boyz, I had no reason to text any longer, so texting was not a factor in me getting sideswiped. If there is a car nearby I don't touch my phone.

However, as everyone has said, BB is a dickhead in the way he expresses himself. He has trolled on many of my threads and I just choose to ignore his posts. You will all find if he is ignored, he has less to say. As soon as he thinks he has someone's attention or has bothered someone he picks up on his trolling. I can't imagine why anyone would enjoy having people consider him a dickhead, asshat, douchebag, but that seems to be the case with BB. Perhaps we should all feel sorry for him because the only reason I can think of that someone would enjoy such negative attention is that they were abused as a child, and that's all they know. I don't know and don't really want to speculate... we all reach an age, that no matter what we've gone through in life, we can choose to do things differently, so he apparently chooses to live in misery. I continue ignoring him and my experience on VFRW is as usual... pleasant and fun.

Thank you all for your kind words and well wishes to get better. And yes, the more days that go by, the more I realize just how lucky I was to have kept the bike up. To me, it's a true testament to the VFR. It's such a perfectly balanced bike that, as long as the rider doesn't screw up, it WANTS to stay upright and will. I just kept looking straight, hung on and hoped it would stop it's tank slapping and straighten out. Thank goodness it did!! To give you an update.... the pain in my leg has gotten increasingly worse and I actually broke down and got a cane yesterday. My terrific roommate took a pic to upload to FB and shame me...

I've developed a new red area on my shin that started Monday. I was supposed to have physical therapy for the first time yesterday but the guy wouldn't touch it because he thought I might have blood clots or perhaps an infection that needed to be treated. He called my doc, and she told me to go to the ER immediately. They did an ultra sound and it turns out no blood clots, but I DO have an infection there and will be on antibiotics for about 2 weeks.

Hopefully this will put me on a healing upswing and stop the worsening trend.

Ummmm... I DID make it to GP... the accident happened on the way from Laguna on Sunday.... there are a couple pics of the track in my original post. One of me at the track with the "centerfield" and vendors behind me. Trust me.... everything that happened that weekend was well worth getting banged up... and I'd get sideswiped again if necessary to have the same experiences...

"Trust me.... everything that happened that weekend was well worth getting banged up... and I'd get sideswiped again if necessary to have the same experiences..."

LOL! It would be cheaper to just pay a dominatrix a few bucks for a good spanking and some big screen pay per view.

Darn... I was all ready to go all sciency and using just a smidgen of dimensional analysis to indicate that in that second of inattention it takes to punch in a single character, at the low end of your 90-100 mph excursion, you will have covered a distance of more than a third of a football field. I am glad to hear that the traffic in and around Monterry is light that time of year too and that cold and fatigue didn't affect those superwomanhuman reflexes you think you have.

So toots, I may be all you think I am, even with the introduction to middle school level psychological evaluation so kindly offered, I ain't no masochist.

Karen, if it makes you feel any better, you look super hawt with a cane. Don't use and get addicted to pain pills, though. Sell them for money to fix your bike.

Not that I'm saying you should but I would consider getting a lawyer for the accident. Sounds like the guy kinda said it was his fault.

Not saying it to just to get money out of it but accidents like that come back to haunt you later in life.

Besides sounds like everybody is hot for a chick with a Cane at least you can use it to fend them off.

I just got back from a road trip, and had to swerve or grab a major handful of brakes at least five or six times. And FWIW, I take great pains to avoid blind spots, ride defensively, etc. etc. etc. ...

Sorry to hear about your collision. Bruises are the frikkin' worst, especially around joints. At least they are colorful, though.

Incorrect! I would try my damndest to dodger. I would also like to take this opportunity just in case Chickie Chicapoo decides to toss in some more of that cornflake box psych and rationalization for every move, that the speed/time calculation was done using standard data. The football field analogy utilized was taken from Women's arena football.

Interesting that out of all the posts in this thread, about 1/3 of them are either by or about badbilly.

As far as bb having a valid point about texting at the ton, that comment was made by OSA06 the day before bb's post.

Funny? I guess I just failed to see the humor in his comments.

It is really something the way he plays everyone.
Does that fit the definition of "troll"?

A side benefit of having bb on my ignore list is the lack of notification of new posts when he replies.
I don't check a thread for new posts just to find it is bb trolling again.

Sounds like ol Charles is in some way attempting to invalidate a valid point unless texting at the ton is one of the great experiences everyone should have. What ol Charles doesn't know, is that OSA O6 is a sneaky devil and is able to manipulate time.

Maybe someone can PM him to clue him in about this nefarious dude since he doesn't check out but just a few posts and will likely miss this one evidenced by what might be consudered inacurate counting.

Or, maybe ol Charles is hoping for hoping for a pic a little more high on the thigh.

Awwwww shucks Knife.... Thanks! I doubt I will get hooked on the pills... Other than taking pain away I really dont like the way they make me feel.

Yes, I have talked to a lawyer and he is handling my case for me. Got the police report in the mail today and it states in it that the other driver admitted he came into my lane. It also plainly states it was the other drivers fault for not safely changing lanes per CA law, making sure the lane was unoccupied.

Went to my doc again today and she said I need an MRI today. She was frustrated that authorization from my insurance company was taking so long ao she called them herself got the auth and I went for.the MRI at 2. Wasnt done til 4:30. Hopefully will fimd out results tomorrow.
