I recently took a two week vacation to Europe. (5 days in spain, 5 in France, and 5 in Belgium). I have to say all they have all the good bikes over there. But here's a pic of the crossrunner I saw in Nime which is in the South of France.

Honda in not the only manufacturer to take this route with bikes. I think they all have in one form or another. Some are true dual purpose & others aren't. They are becoming more popular here. But trying get most of them down any thing but a reasonable dirt road.
But that holds true to most of the road bike I've ever owned.
Most of the owners that I know that own these type of bikes admit the same thing & 99% will only ever see tar. But that does not make them any less a decent bike, one of the 1st things they do, is get rid of the "Dual" tyres. The seating & bars suit an awful lot of riders (especially old farts like myself) & give decent bum room for a pillion. Haven't seen the new Honda in the flesh yet, but it looks good in the pics & so far the reviews have been positive (the ones I've read anyway. And lets face it, its a Honda, which means its ahead of most makers as far as quality anyway. Never liked critising someones choice of ride, a bikes a bike.

I think that you have got it right pacemaker as even the majority of BMW GSs don't go off road. One of the top selling bikes in the UK is the Kawasaki Versey which is in the same mould as the Crossrunner

I think there is one major reason why these bikes are becoming popular . . . reasonable ergonomics!

Too bad it has to be in such an oogly (worse than ugly) package.

You gentlemen probably know that this bike was designed by the same Spaniard

named Teofilo Plaza, in Italy, that did the VFR1200. He must have seen too many

Jimmy Durante films as a child.

I just cannot understand why Honda is outsourcing design jobs to Europe.

A company that created the beautiful Black Bomber, the RC30, and the fantastic NR750 etc.

should still be able to create a bike that is functional AND beautiful.

The only way I would be seen on that bike is if I were to use my hack saw

on the damn beak. Gotta get back to my restoring my old enduros (not "Adventure" bikes).

I've got a couple of vintage Suzys that can do freeway, dirt, etc. without an ugly proboscis!

Do we know for sure that the styling of those various bikes was not outsourced? The Italians did a great job of styling many of the early Japanese cars. Some of those early cars sans the Italian look were butt ugly. A FOAF (actually a brother of a friend) works for Honda in Torrance, CA and is responsible for many of the styling decisions, colors ect.

We have cautioned the same dude not to watch any of the Transformer flix more than once.

Honda, why you make this bike?

Damnit Honda, just bring us the Transalp. I bought a V-Strom last year. It COULD have been a Transalp if they were available here in the US. Im serious, i was even looking for an old model but couldnt find one.
This Crossrunner seems like the SUV of motorcycles, and you know how people drive SUV's:frown:

So suddenly because I have bought a Crossrunner I have become a bad rider according to you:mad:. 48 years of only having bikes as my personal means of transport riding tens of thousands a year al of Europe and still here to tell the tale means I must of been doing something right. However now that I ride a Crossrunner I become a danger to myself and others it would appear:confused:. I take it that I'm still a reasonable rider when I'm on my Deauville

Sure do! On a cell and with a 60lb dog on thier laps, a back area full of little dudes all waiting in anticipation for the low shelves at WalMart where the candy and shit is. Makes me want to buy an airplane.

I don't know if some of you have seen the trend, but there is a market for this type of ride in foggies like me. I like my fifth gen. Love it is even a better sentiment. The issue is that motorcycling has changed and demographics has also. Some of the guys who can afford to still buy bikes are no longer able to ride on their wrists but hell bound on NOT going cruiser. This market wants a standard ride but with something better. I like the idea of riding up and still go around corners. I remember my last standard, but the wind killed me. Thats why i put a Givi on my VFR and Heli bars. Thic Crossrunner is just in my style. Its different, no adventure about it and i am not thinking of taking one off road. Just look at the clearance between the fenders and rubber, need I say more? Power is just enough for me to get in trouble but I know I'm not racing against any sportbikes. I would love the CB1000R if it had some protection from the wind and i'd be all over that.

Thank you... I think it would have been better w/o the vtec but the bike is good enough to do well in that category. The exaust down low should be better for passenger comfort. I guess i'll wait to see if it becomes available here.

Thank you gents. Jose, let me know when you do get it how you like it. Im interrested in good down to earth riders' take on bikes. Non of this writer's bias or non real world testing. I want 1st month and 6th month review. I want the truth from a normal person like me. I want to know what is like living with the bike.
