not here just put the key in and turn like presto it unlocks and opens, push it down with just a little quick pop and it shuts key rotates where I can pull it out but I only have 6400 on her so far.

Yeah, mine has been for a while, and getting worse. But so were my ignition and the seat lock. I attributed it to riding for 3 days in the rain when I went out to the International Motorcycle show in Long Beach, CA in December. I put graphite in the ignition and seat lock, and just last week, when the tank lock was getting unbearable, I put some WD-40 on it... seems to have done the trick! I put the WD on the "inside" part that releases, and I locked and unlocked it a few times to work it in. Hopefully that will help you too...

Hey Chickie. WD40 is a very short lasting lube. It will clean your locks really well. Some graphite based product would be much better and use it very sparingly. Don't want the dirt and grit from your local climate to compromise things for you. I use a product called Tri Flo that has a drip type tube attached to it so i really only use a drop or two. Got it at a bicycle shop and used it on my bicycle chain. Absolutely stopped rust.

My gas tank lid sticks ever so slightly. Not even worth mentioning other than to answer to this post. And my riding is probably 70% in the fuggen rain as some here know. Been riding in the rain on this bike year round since 2006, and logged almost 80,000 miles on it now....same bike....same gas cap....same lock

Yeah anything the key is used for requires some fiddling. I lubed the lot a few times while winter riding because I wouldn't want to be stranded with a non-opening fuel cap!
Oh yes Tri-Flo is an excellent product, hadn't thought of that. They have it at work...

my gas cap is a teeny bit sticky; but sometimes I think my key may not work in the ignition. Like it's not even the correct key. Fortunately, I haven't been stranded (yet).

I took out the pins and springs from the tumbler. Makes for a much easier opening cap. Just stick a key in and turn it. Actually you can take out your ka-bar and open it. Since it looks locked it is about as good as locked.

Just got my bike yesterday and rode 500k. I filled it up twice and it worked well.
It is the ignition switch (key) I am not impressed with :-(
It is super hard to get to turn and to remove the key.

That's what happens when you try to shove a Rambler key into a VFR.

Had to go back and look at what I posted. Sorry Karen, I meant teflon based. Tri Flo is teflon based. I know it is a while to wait, but I will bring some down with me next Reggei Regatta for you to try out. I saw where a fisherman used some on a lock and chain that is constantly exposed to salt water in the Campbell River area. No rust to speak of and the lock and chain was a couple years old in Sea Water. Quite amazing actually.

Thanks Randy! I'd love to try that stuff!! In the meantime, I thought I'd share another tip with everyone... check your key to see if it's bent. I was having difficulty again and yesterday could NOT get my key out of the ignition AT ALL. Finally after a bunch of light jiggling the key I got it out and this is what it looked like.

I wonder if the Vegas heat is melting it. At one point yesterday, the air temp gauge on the bike read 127 degrees and was blinking. When the bike has been running then it sits and the sun is beating on it, who knows how hot the innards get? I pulled out my extra key and no problems at all with any of the locks. So, I'll be getting a couple blank keys and having new keys made so I have more extras in case this happens again. Weird huh?
