    I don't know why I bother......
    Your argument claims that injuries are too costly to the public so people should wear helmets. Irregardless of helmets, motorcycle riding itself is known to be far more dangerous than driving a car.

    So you've made the argument for the non-riding public (a majority by the way) why they should just go ahead and ban motorcycles outright. I mean why stop at helmets if it's all just about the buck and someone's widow.

    Personally, I think the the widow porn online channel needs new talent anyway.

    You see it in the gun control debate for decades. The gun crowd says, "oh, we can concede this little step and the anti-gunners will leave us alone."

    Constitutional right to own a firearm? Yes!

    Constitutional right to own a motorcycle? No!

    BZ=winning!

    TWS=0

    Its your argument and bad anology that falls flat with such comparisons.

    In addiiton, even though we have rights, like the right to bear arms or arm bears, they are not unlimited rights...just ask your local felon.

    I didn't say anything about Constitutional rights. I made a comparison to the moving line in the sand that happens when one group wants to take away from another.

    again I'll ask you to quit twisting my words around.

    :boink:

    :tongue2:

    A bad comparison, quit bringing up something constitutionally protected and relate to a subject that is not, and ill leave you alone.

    I am able to post here because a helmet saved my life.

    In Canada, where we have government-funded, universal health care, I think our Federal and Provincial governments should be able to tell all of us Canucks to wear a bucket and a full-face one at that.

    It just irks me that most of the people who don't want to wear a helmet do so for image as previously mentioned.

    Look at Ben Roethlisberger...doesn't bother to wear a helmet on his 'Busa but wears one every game. Oh yeah...someone tells him to wear on on the field.

    Justify yourself in your mind anyway you like

    and your sexual preference is of no concern to this debate.

    So answer me then; should your gov't also be allowed to tell you that you cannot ride motorcycles at all? Afterall, there is safer transportation available at competitive pricing. Riding your motorcycle is a luxury and not a necessity. And since motorcycles, helmet or not, are known to be far more deadly than automobiles, your gov't should be allowed to take your bike away from you based on your logic - right?

    Exactly my point, Mr. Tink...exactly! (I'm not a Commie... :tongue: )

    It is a slippery slope when we discuss such things. Indeed a slippery slope...the line gets blurred. Good points of view all around.

    I shall continue to wear my helmet...law or no. Same for my seatbelt.

    Another thought I have is workplace safety...Ontario makes sure workers wear safety harnesses when working at heights. Wouldn't that be silly if a window washer said he didn't want to wear the safety line because it didn't look cool?
