The engine is actually running great to be honest. I went through and did a whole bunch of tests and it came through with flying colors. The next thing in my search are the brackets that go from the frame to the body panels. I do appreciate the offer though.
And for the restoration followers that have been waiting on some pictures...

Well, the project got put on hold for a while, if you guys couldn't tell, but I got a spark under my ass about a month ago to get working again. My body panels are at the body shop right now, Everyone will be disappointed, but I chose not to go with factory colors, I'm doing Viper Very Bright Orange Pearl, I think it should come back pretty nice. I also had to order new carbs since I discovered a fuel leak and it turned out to be on a major component, it was cheaper to buy new than to fix. So, hopefully in the next week or so I will have pics with fresh paint. The next hurdle is the exhaust. It has a Yosh slip on that is in pretty rough shape, from what I've been reading the Yosh is the nicest aftermarket for this bike so I'm going to try to fix it up and paint the headers with some high temp black. I'm pretty excited to see it coming together, and I know already, I'm gonna catch heat for the color :)

    Way to stay with it.:thumb:

NEVER paint a bike with the idea of pleasing the majority. Your bike...your paint scheme.

Look forward to seeing it. While you have time, try to detail as much of the other parts as you can. Nothing looks worse on a new paint job than rusty hardware and faded plastic.

Could use a little help for any carb heads out there...
I bought a set of carbs off of ebay, they claimed they were from a running bike and they look like they're in great shape. When I get the carbs I went through and cleaned them out completely, I pulled out all the jets and soaked them in acetone, cleaned the inside of the bowls real well, made sure everything moved mechanically, lubed all the moving parts, and put the carbs on the bike.
I got the tank back today and I decided to fill it up and try to turn it over. No go. The bowls are filling, I checked by draining them a little bit, I'm getting spark, I checked by pulling the plug and grounding it while turning over, but the plugs don't seem to be wet at all. When I cleaned the carbs, I turned the air fuel screws all the way in, then brought them all out one turn. I decided maybe I need more fuel, so I turned them out another turn, still no fuel on the plugs.
I'm assuming this has to be a carb issue, I just don't know where to begin troubleshooting. If you can think of anything that does not involve removing the carbs, that would be best since I live in an apartment and it's really a pita to tear all that apart in the parking lot.
    Thanks in advance.

Figured it out. The smaller jets were all clogged to the point that I could not see light through them. I pulled them and replaced them with the jets from my old carbs. Now it at least runs enough that I'll be able to ride it to the shop to have them synced.

All done with paint, still need to do some work on the exhaust, pollish the frame, and clean everything real good

Question, I ordered new turn signals, stalk type in front not flush mount, and I can't figure out how they mount. Is there a bracket in there that I might be missing?

The color reminds me of my old RD which is being restored extremely slowly
Do you have a number for the pain.

BTW I have never found acetone to be that good of a carb jet solvent. I use carb cleaner.

Ah don't let that squid ride your bike again. :)

wow man, youve come a LONG way since last august. i like the HELL out of your choice of paint schemes. it just looks fantastic. as for your turn signal quesiton, i have no idea, as i used flush mount signals all around on my bike....i dont even want to deal with the droopy stalks, ever.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. The countless hours spent on ebay have paid off and it's nice to hear compliments for the work and money that went into it. Small improvements still to come, can't wait for the completely finished product (if there is such a thing lol)

lemme tell ya from experience dude, youll never be "done" with it. every time i look at mine, theres something more i want to do to it, or tweak on it, or SOMETHING. besides, if you ever look at your bike and think to yourself "ok, thats it, im finished, the bike is 100% where i want it to be.", then its probably time to sell it and find another.

The Honda parts breakdown pic for your bike shows two small mounting brackets for the front turn signals, part numbers 18 and 19. They simply bolt onto your front subframe, however there are no part numbers listed so I'm guessing that they're prolly no longer available.

Part number 20 is the little rubber trim piece that fits in the opening in the fairing for the turn signal. It just gives the front turn signal mounting a nice finished appearance. Two are required, part number is 64136-ML7-600.

BTW-I got my hand raised in the air too,I'm really liking your paint scheme. Lookin'good!

Sorry for the vague description on this, I just have no clue at all what it might be. Lately, when I hit my starter, it will start to turn and then I get this god awful metal grinding noise. I can turn the drive shaft with a wrench and I can push start the bike, but using the starter is pretty much worthless. I just ordered a new starter, I'm hoping that resolves the issue, I just have no idea what else it might be. Any input?

Before you went and ordered that new starter did you first disassemble and inspect your starter clutch? Those old starter clutches had a nasty habit of blowing apart.
