My wife and I went to this event last year. This year it was on June 4th.

Basically, it's a closed road ride starting at the Alpine Inn located in Burkesville, KY. The course is 1.5 miles of twisty roads and elevation changes. They have an ambulance, corner workers, etc. Your group rides to end of the rode and then you turn around and ride back. You are free to use the entire road because only one group runs it at a time. There is a tail gunner to make sure that nobody takes off back the other direction until everyone is accounted for. The event is free although they do take donations.

They have food, drinks, t-shirts and a dyno. The dyno is $20. I ran the VFR on it last year and it put out a ground pounding 98.3hp. Ha!

We left about 5:15am and arrived at about 9am. The morning was cool in the mid 60's. On the way home after lunch it was in the mid 90's. We were in the second group to ride.

The trip out and back was as much fun as riding the Alpine. We took the twisty Kentucky back roads. We did miss a turn somewhere on the way back. It delayed us about an hour, no biggie.

If you look closely you can see the GoPro camera behind the wind screen. We weren't going very fast this year. I don't want to crash while I still have this plate in my shoulder!

I rode my VF500 to get a haircut last week, and it turns out that my barber had gone to DTEIII on his Buell. I had never heard of it before, but I wanna make this one next year!

It seemed like a cool gig to me! I rode up with a Nashville group. Didn't run the Alpine, I had to make it to Lexington for the night. But, I wanna go back next year and run it...

You are a bit closer than I am to the event. Half the fun or more is getting there and back on the twistie back roads. I have a friend (that shall remain nameless) that slabs it over to the event. This, I do not understand. Ha!

It's a cool and fun event. Between rides I like to walk over and watch the $20 dyno runs. The BBQ was excellent this year. The weather for all three years can only be described as HOT.
