    Hi guys..

I just got a fender eliminator for my VFR800. Our plates here are 8 inches wide - as opposed to the common 7 inches.

As you can see here: http://i.imgur.com/Z5Z2h.jpg

I had to bend the plate on the sides for it to fit. However, the first part of the first letter (and last part of the last) is somewhat cut off. I'm not sure if I'll have any issues yet - but it's quite possible..

Just wondering if anyone knows of any way to spread the two exhausts slightly.

    Thanks!

Narrow, narrow, narrow. I certainly would like that look.

You have to be straight back or else it cuts out at least 1 digit. It means photo radar will have a tough time getting me.. =)

Go for it. I bet you could remove the rear bolts that hold the exhaust, pull out carefully and install some washers to hold them wider...Or you could just bend the plate a little more and hope its ok with the popo.

Turn the plate sideways, the cruiser doods seem to get away with it.

Hi good idea about turning the plate on end. My cafe bike uses it. Police have criminals to look for, traffic is a low priority

spreading mufflers is a bad idea.

I've had a couple cops pass me in the last few days. Haven't been an issue (yet).

Might just keep it the way it is now playing dumb if they question it.

All I can say is I'm really loving this bike... I can't believe how fun it is =)

Can you not get the number plate in a smaller size? That's what most people here in SA do. The shop tells you its illegal, but will still sell it to you.

    I don't think we do.

I wound up just bending the sides in slightly with a hammer on a bench - taking it in about 1/2 inch on each side. It actually looks pretty clean, so I'm not too worried. Technically it's not "legal", but this is the only way I can fit on the plate. It's really disappointing that Honda left the clearance between the exhausts so small. It would have been nice if they researched motorcycle plate size around the globe before deciding on how wide to keep them apart.

I managed to make a nice curve to mine to get it to fit in between the pipes. It looks really good and nothing has been cut off. I just hope that when I get my Leo SBK pipes that it'll still fit properly. But ya I hear ya, our plates suck![IMG]

How wide are your motorcycle plates over there?

I think another solution would be to get a custom plate with 3 or 4 characters on it. 4 chars would easily be visible from directly behind.
