Fist post, rant. short and simple

On the way to work. Hit a red light and stop. While i put my foot down my pant leg catches my foot peg and before i even knew it BAM shes down on the right side nice and easy.

After 3 attemps and a bunch of swearing. i cant get her up. Right after my last attempt and guy in a lexus behind me honks his horn, now mind you we are on a normal double laned road.

That right, dosent offer to help or simply drive around me atleast. No, im a lazy inconsiderate SOB that would rather just beep my horn.

Well, at this point my anger was right a the tipping point as i throw off my helmet and started tword his driver window, and really let him have it. then after calling me a idiot peels out past me and the bike no farther than a foot away.

I then stomp over to the bike and squat and lift the bike as if it were made of paper.

So i guess he helped me in some weird way but i CANNOT believe people some times, i have now lost hope to all humanity.

oh, you meant the BIKE went down.

Dammit, I thought this thread was going to be one of those Penthouse Letters.

Hope the damage isn't too bad. I've had similar close calls with the pant leg.

What a douche - karma will deal with that guy. Maybe he was on his way to treatment for sexting his johnson to 17yr old girls while his wife's in Africa and then lying about it.

So sorry man, that sucks. I highsided my bike a few years back and while pushing it to the side of the road I almost got hit by a car trying to get around me on the right side. They almost had to drive on the sidewalk to avoid hitting me and my bike. Maybe its just because I ride, but anytime I see someone lifting or pushing a bike, I get out and offer to help.

Incredible what adrenaline will do to your weighlifting abilities though, isn't it?

Try not to think about it, it will just get you upset. There are a lot of losers out there, you just happened to meet one.
Focus instead on fixing your bike and finding a solution so that your pant leg never puts you down again.
PS - Rubber bands work AWESOME! But they look nerdy. I used them on my bicycle when commuting to work, to keep my slacks out of the chain.

I understand how you feel. I have had similar situations happen to me. Here's a feel good story for you. Two weeks ago, in the morning, me and my wife were riding. There is a nice right handed 90 degree turn a few blocks up the street where we live. I have gone through that turn numerous times during the week. But that day there was a small patch of pea gravel in the turn. I tried to miss it but that didn't happen. We went down doing about 20 mph. Some guys roofing a house there on the corner got off the roof and helped my wife to the side of the road and helped me to pick up the bike and move it off the road also. They hung there till the ambulance arrived to tend to my wifes broken wrist. Thank God not all peeps out there are douches. These guys are excellent examples of good citizens and I appreciate peeps like them when I meet em.

Another feel gooder I wrote a post about a while ago... I was trying to do a U turn on a hill up in the mountains (road construction was going to have me sitting there for 30 min). In the middle of it I realized I wouldn't make it since the road was so narrow. I stopped the bike but since I was on a steep hill my feet didnt touch to hold up the bike and shes HEAVY. the bike kept going down and down but by the time my bar end almost touched a guy was out of his car and helping me. He was fast and didn't hesitate (otherwise she would have dropped). Definitely some cool people out there among the stupids...

There is definitely no shortage of them as I see some in my everyday commute. I love the ones that try to race you. I just ignore them and let them go. It's not worth getting worked up over. Like I said, there's no shortage. So it sounds like you're OK which is the main thing. How about the bike?

Once after I pulled into a convenience store a few years back, I didn't get my side stand locked and my bike did a slow fall as I quickly grabbed it and avoided a hard drop. Before I could even start to get her upright, a guy ran out of the store, grab my bike, and stood it up. I said I was really embarrassed. He said not to be, we've all done it at some time. Good peeps.

Well you've joined two clubs today, VFRW and the ahshit club too!! The guy in the Lexus is an asshat and will probably get what he has coming sooner rather than later. I've allways had pretty good luck when I ditched my ride and actually needed help so hopefully this is an isolated incident for you and you have good luck in the future, starting with not dropin your girl again. It happens, it sucks, the ride goes on. :welcome:

When my R/R cooked 200 miles from home on a straight 55mph two laner with nothing but 4 feet of pavement to leave the bike on and a ditch to stand in for an hour while waiting for the tow truck, an older lady stopped to see if I was ok or needed anything. I told her I was just waiting for the truck and that I would be fine. She said she had to run to the bank to drop a check off and she would come back and check on me. She came back 20 minutes later, gave me a bottle of water and insisted that I sit in her car with her while her friendly labrador retriever sniffed at my ears from the backseat. She stayed for another half hour or so until the tow truck got there. I've never met anyone who was that nice to a complete stranger. God bless her.

I can't imagine riding by a fallen or broken down rider without offering to help - I would want anyone else to do the same for me. I even try really hard not to smirk when it's a broke down Harley!

Oh, one other thought - You really should be wearing proper riding boots while on the bike. And those usually are tall enough to tuck your pants in. Again, not quite as cool looking, but boots look more proper than rubber bands.

TALK ABOUT KARMA, was driving to work today in my car, f'ing rain here...but i thought i was halucinating when i see the same silver lexus being pulled onto a flat bed, and the same freaking guy handcuffed standing against the police cruiser and to make it even better, on the same STREET!

Im still having a hard time believing this...but it did. i just smiled and went on my way!

and as for the bike...she had previosuly been put down before i bought it, but the $300 new primary is now scratched and some very small scratches on the fairings, bar ends, pass pegs and mirrior...=(...and the rear break lever is bent in like hell, but still works fine. and the radiator has a scratch from the fairing sliding down it when it dropped. i will get her reapaired and painted in the winter...just really pissed about the primary, just f'ing replaced that thing..but no hole in it atleast.

thanks for the postives guys appreicate it.

Lexus douche bag deserved it. But its amazing how many people actually ride bikes but drive cars. Most of them are weekend riders. When I had my Nighthawk, I broke down numerous times and time and again, someone would stop by to check on me. One time my head lights didn't work and a weekend moto racer offered to escort me home!!!! When I went down, at least 3 cars stopped to see if I was okay when they saw the scattered fairing pieces on the ground.

But you always get the douche bags too. I always have cars wanting to race me. I just shake my head and keep going the speed limit. I just let them waste their gas trying to cut through traffic and here in Los Angeles, speeding, doesn't get you no where any faster.

Dude. I live/ride in LA. As a motorcyclist and a Californian, I lost that meager hope a looooong time ago. I've always said (way before Harold Camping, for the record BTW) that if/when the end of the world comes, it'll surely START in L.A.

Sorry to hear of the tip over, regardless.

    Or these: Boots :: MotorcycleGear.com

They will do wonders for your ankle/feet in a crash, even @ commuting speeds. End up with a car parked on your ankle or foot, and you'd easily offer 2x their cost, not to be in that predicament.

A couple of years ago, I saw a couple on a gold wing and they were both off, she was on the phone and he was trying to air up the back tire that had gone flat. I had the HRCA sticker in the back window of my car, so he deemed me OK. I took most of the luggage, and her, and followed him to a Honda shop to get a new tire. I hung out with them until they were on their way again. They were on a tour up from Georgia somewhere. I know I stop and help when I can, regardless of what bike they are on. Got got a than you, which is good enough.
