    Have fun.

    Here's what I learned -

the superslab will put you to sleep. State highways are far more interesting and will usually get you to your destination just as fast.

I had to work up to the miles. The first day, I didn't think I'd make it 500 miles, stopping for a nap in a park helped. Once getting back on the road my body still fought me but finally gave in and I got a second wind of sorts.

The 960 mile day was an accident and not on purpose. I was completely wrecked the next day and slept 12 hours. My ass hurt so bad I don't know if I could have got on a bike if I needed to. There's no way I could have done that many miles on day 1 but a week of riding almost every day conditioned me for it.

Loved the pic of you bringing the motorcycle into the hotel room. Did you have the stock seat?

Nothing against SD, but take it from a guy who lives in CO and has spent more time than I care to admit visiting family in SD: if the ride is what you're after, skip SD. It's as straight as it gets, and what little twitsties do exist are wall to wall RVs and Harleys, never more true than in Rushmore. Hit up a few of the Denver locals for some amazing, hassle free, back road routes. Here are a few miles of video taken by GuitarX, notice the lack of traffic and the shear amount of corners. There are thousands of miles of roads just like this, with varying scenery, to choose from. It's essentially Deals Gap everywhere you go, less the cars and all of the other bullshit.
