    Hi
Am experiencing what I think may be a problem with my gear change:

The shifter sometimes sticks at 4th (like it feels in 6th when changing up)... releasing the clutch a couple of times seems to solve the problem..:frown:

Also, the bike has changed down a gear at speed from 5th to 4th a couple of times in the last week...

Also had a couple of times when the gear has gone into neutral at low speed when I'm looking to go down to first when pulling up...

Any thoughts? or is it me not being precise enough with my selections?

    Cheers guys...

Haven't experienced what you're describing, but I know that my shift changes seem to get "sloppy" when my oil is wearing down (for lack of a better term). I change my oil every 2500 to 3000, but if I put 2000 miles of hard riding on it (i.e. 8K RPMs to red-line), those shifts just don't seem to be as crisp.

Have you tried changing the oil? How long have you had the bike? Maybe if its new to you, the current oil is not the correct type?

Just trying to think of easy solutions before tearing the gearbox or tranny apart.

    Thanks for the note.

I've not had the bike long so will check the oil as you suggest, even change it just to be sure.

    Cheers!

Since you haven't had the bike long, unless you specifically know what oil is in there and when it was last changed, it would definitely be a good idea to change it. It may not fix your problem, but its still a good idea anyway.

No offense intended, but assume your familiar with bike oil? Whatever brand you decide to use, just make sure its made for a bike. You definitely don't want an oil with any "moly" in there, including car oil.

Got it, good point, and no offence taken.

    Thanks again
