I have tried it. I don't think it works all that well. I had applied it to my visor and like a couple of days later I got caught in a down pour. I may have applied it wrong or not applied enought but it didn't help any. I am gonna try some car wax next.
Most lid manufacturers will tell you its a big no-no. If you keep your visor clean, it'll bead water as well as any glass with rain-x. If you're curious about cloudy, apply a dab to a piece that doesn't directly affect your vision. But remember, clouding can take weeks or months to appear. I'd recommend keeping it clean and leaving it well enough alone.
try Plexas, really great stuff, or Pledge works great too. lockhart makes a good product thats made for visors. but I've found that the Pleaxas works not only great for wind screens but your visor as well.
I had an old AGV helmet and tried it on it. It took the coatings right off. I would recommend plexus also, it may not work as good as the rainx does on car windshields, but a momentary turn of the head usually gets the water to bead right off. It makes bug cleaning a little easier also. I have heard that there is a type of rainx for plastic, but I do not know if it has the same ill effects on the coatings of a faceshield.
DON'T USE RAIN-X on your shield. It peeled some kind of finish off and now my shoei blue mirrored shield is a mess. I'd suggest a good wax.
I've used Rain-X on clear, silver mirror, and smoke shields with good results, but I quit using it after I ruined an irredescent mirror shield.
 Honda Polish and Harley polish is great/. I use Rain x on everything. Must be some kind of plastic vortex here in Alabama. keep in mind though, I only use it on six helmets and 4 windshields! Only clear shields though!
I've got a can of Plexus, haven't got around to using it yet. Plenty of people in Australia use it. Another thing we use in Australia is Mr Sheen. It's furniture polish in a spray can, works better if you get the water resistant version.
thanks guys. I was just thinking about doing this last weekend, but figured I would give the board a check B4 I put it on my new helmet. thanks again Bob
