I'm trying to get my Yosh 4-1 Exhaust installed and it seems like the Rear Shock linkage gets in the way. (one of many issues trying to install this sucker)

Is it customary to have to remove the rear linkage to pop this sucker on?

I couldn't tell at first cause installing the exhaust is atleast a 2 man job.

I got a buddy to hold the muffler while I went under the bike to see where the problem was and it's definitely the shock and linkage. Prevents you from lining the pipes up.

I also have to work the header pipes to line up with the Yosh system.

Dukie, you installed the Ohlins on your 2nd gen, yeah?

    Any comments/observations on the installation?

Okay i just had this problem and got it fixed....it depends on the shock u have on the bike...if u have a stock VFR shock it should work...if u have a twin clicker it should work...i think just about any other shock will require the headers to be modified. the yoshi exhaust is designed oddly. but when i would install my yoshi it would hit the shock linkage, but what i did was get some exhaust adapters. i think headers are 1 3/8 od, i got some 1 1/2 exhaust tubing from local auto store, which i had tig welded onto the headers...and them got some more adapters that would go into 1 1/2 and then shrink back down to 1 3/8 so they can fit back in to YOSHI...and got those tig welded...the adapters essentially push the yoshi exhasut back to the almost stock exhaust's location. which clears shock linkage...but you gotta commit to the change cause its a PITA to take ALL THAT STUFF apart just to make the yoshi fit.

^^ So did you have a stock shock?

My Shock is stock and the pipes are making contact with the shock linkage....but it looks like it will clear when the Yosh pipes are fully inserted into the header pipes. I just need the linkage out of the way to better install the Yosh system.

One of the steps to changing the shock out in the manual if I remember right is you have to remove the mufflers, maybe the same is true for the shock linkage to fit different mufflers on.

Nice. Well I was gonna toss my Ohlins in while I have the linkage out but maybe I'll just worry about tossing on the Yosh and riding the bike this year.

I kept it too.....mine is just in about 5 pieces  ....dumb of me, I know. I was just having too much trouble getting that old exhaust off.

    Yeah, maybe.

Man this thing is a PITA to install.

Pipes have to come back off again.

The Yosh pipes will not clear the shock linkage.

No, are you sure it is for a 2nd gen?

You might have to install some length adapters like Fatso said to get it to clear the shock linkage.
