Quick update everybody. New shift linkage came in this morning and is waiting to be put on. I got a set of BT-45s on order so I dont die from these ancient tires too. Still think I should do fork seals asap.... the left fork still seems a bit oily???

I adjusted the idle screw a bit, and she seems to sit ok at about 1000-1200 rpm once warmed up. It still seems to teeter a bit. I still think I need to get the carbs professionally cleaned and synced. When riding around slow neighborhoods it seems to bog down below ~ 4k rpm. And then it immediatly smoothes out and takes off like a bat out of hell. Ideas?

the BT 45 is a good tire I am running a ste on my 86 VFR 700 right now and I really like them... as far as the fuel pump thing goes, It was installed on the bike at the factory therefore that's were it should be, just my opinion I had to go with gravity feed for a while till I purchased a fuel pump, and it sucked... I could go any farther than what a half a tank would get me. Even when I ran the shortest amount of fuel line I could get onto the bike. it doesn't work well with the petcocks that are built into the side of the tank I will tell you that but maybe the external dangly ones gravity feed appears to work....Just my .02

I tossed around multiple tire options for a couple weeks. I really wanted the Sport Demons because i hear they are the stickiest, but I keep hearing that you only get 5-6k out of the rear. Ef that. Then I wanted the avon roadriders, but they are so ungodly expensive. And the Conti GOs don't come in or front tire size. So I'm going back to the 45s.

I havn't seemed to have any problems dueto no fuel pump. The filter is always full....

Gravity feed works...I just feel that since the designers put it it why take it out? yeah these are the same designers that did the valves on the gen 1 and they screwed that one up... however I am just saying that with my 86, gravity feed doesn't work past the top half of the tank(maybe a little bit more than half) so I leave the fuel pump in and its all good....I have an after market fuel pump the original took a crap on me.....

:heh: I dont think I have a problem with that. My mom's boyfriend took my bike out for a joyride last night before they left on his goldwing. He got 5 miles down the road a ran out of gas! He called me and said "your bike just quit on me at 50mph... and I think it stems from the fact that your tank is bone dry." I lol'd so hard. We had to take him a couple gallons, and the tank was completely empty.
