Mine does take about 5 minutes of running from cold start to take the choke all the way off, but runs just great from then on, good throttle response and pulls very nicely up to redline....which I have only done twice considering the advice I have received here about keeping the 500s revs to a reasonable shift point. I did set the float levels just a bit higher than the FSM called for, would that compensate somewhat for the stock lean jetting?

You are absolutely right Greg, there is tons of good info on this forum. The biggest problem is weeding through the "bonus" material to find the good stuff.

Many Hondas seem "coldblooded" meaning they take a few minutes to fully warm up.

Yeah, my Nighthawk (stock jetting) is the same way, requires a lot of choke during warmup, takes about 10 minutes to get the choke all the way off.
