Slippery on all the metal parts was the result.... sorry about the smart ass response...

somewhere in the history of the forum is a BUNCH of oil threads you may have to sift through them...everytime an oil thread pops up it turns ugly by the 10 post....LOL

    good luck in your quest..

Thanks man. Yeah, the more I read the more confused I get. Reminds me of the t-shirt " I was so shocked when I read about the dangers of drinking, I had to give up reading". Should just stick with Gastrol GTX.

I am currently running it in my 3rd Gen (2 oil changes) and I love it. The transmission is silky smooth and actually shifts better than my 6th Gen which is running Shell Rotella T (non-synthetic) I would probably use it more often but it is more convenient for me to use Rotella since it is stocked by most major auto parts stores. With Castrol Actevo I either have to order it and have it shipped or pick some up when I happen to be near a Cycle Gear store.

    Shell's page on Rotella:

    - Shell Rotella® Products

I run it in my 91. Works just fine.

Since the page is by Shell if anybody finds they say you can use the stuff on your romaine and tomatoes, the ad guys probably re-wrote what the engineers wrote in the first place.

If you use Castrol, you're contributing to BP corporate mismanagement , so you decide.

If you have been using GTX and like it, why not Stick with it? Other than it is BP. The activo is expensive and in most cases you have to order it (didn't say it was bad) The Shell rotella non-synthetic is 15w-40 so it could work in there too. It is about $3.80 a contaner at walmart has an additive package smilar to most motorcycle specific oils. Nice thing is that it is easy to get.

Hey, I'm from SA, we have enough GOVERNMENT mismanagement to worry about. Thanks for the replies though guys. Rotella doesn't seem that available here. It gets pretty hot and hardly ever gets below 10 degrees C, so the thicker viscosity oils (20/50) are not a problem.

I'm sure glad we don't have any of that government mismanagement stuff here.
